It should start from the time of collecting the base. Those mental factors are also classified into pervasive, specific, virtuous, afflictive, and near-afflictive. Among them, the pervasive ones have already been classified in the context of the ground possessing the five aggregates of consciousness. The specific ones are those that specifically engage in desire, certainty, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom, and should be classified in order. The classification of virtuous ones starts from entering into six occasions: the time of determination, the time of turning away from evil, the time of doing good, the time of detachment from worldly desire, the time of detachment from transcendental desire, and the time of benefiting sentient beings, which are one, two, four, one, two, and one respectively, in order. Afflictions are the basis of near afflictions, so they are primary. Therefore, near afflictions have been mentioned earlier and pointed out separately. They are also classified for the sake of wrongly grasping what should be eaten, what is profound, and what is contrary to it. Among them, what should be eaten are the feelings of pleasure, pain, and neither pleasure nor pain. Wrongly grasping these is attachment, aversion, and ignorance, in order. The eater is the sentient being. Grasping this as self and wrongly grasping it is pride. The opposite of this is correct determination. Wrongly grasping this is wrong determination and uncertainty. These two are views and doubt, in order. Near afflictions are classified because of six bases: the basis of quarrels and disputes, the basis of worldly dharmas such as gain, the basis of harming morality, the basis of aspects that are incompatible with tranquility, the five faculties are the basis of incompatible aspects together with their results, and the basis of the stains of the three trainings. These are also four

And, six, and, two, and, two, and, six, and, four, in order. Among them, the five faculties such as faith, the opposing aspects are disbelief and so on. Their fruit is carelessness, because they do not cultivate virtuous dharmas. The stain of discipline is regret, because those who have extreme regret, when they know that the discipline is not completely pure, constantly do not strive upwards due to the stain of regret. Therefore, it is considered to be a near affliction here. If a fault occurs, and one immediately regrets it, that is virtuous, so it is not a near affliction. Similarly, sleep should also be said to be a stain of samadhi. The stain of wisdom is both investigation and analysis. Like this, if one investigates for a very long time, it will lead to forgetfulness, delusion, and mental confusion. Therefore, from the Compendium of Determinations, it should also be said that these two are near afflictions. If it is not like this, because virtuous dharmas such as virtue have not been distinguished, it will be difficult to recognize that they are near afflictions. Also, in another classification, they are established as having four similar aspects: because each one is associated with an unwholesome and afflicted mind, therefore they are the ten such as anger; because where one arises, the second does not arise. Because they are associated with all unwholesome minds, therefore they are the two of shamelessness and lack of embarrassment. Because they are associated with all afflicted sentient beings of the three realms, therefore they are the eight such as torpor. Because they are associated with afflicted and non-afflicted minds, therefore they are regret and so on. That which is called "entering, subsequently entering" is by the cause that completely arouses and by its moment that completely arouses. That which is called "arising from its cause, a similar cause arousing" is that mental consciousness arises from its cause, is a similar cause, namely the virtuous and non-virtuous such as eye consciousness. Its arousal is virtue and non-virtue itself.

will arise. What is called "extraordinary karma" is because the previous karma is not common to the five aggregates of consciousness. What is called "making one mad" is because drinking alcohol causes disturbance, leading to the disturbance of the elements, and both body and mind undergo changes. The seven discriminations are established through type, self-nature, and association, which are two, three, and two, respectively, in that order. Discrimination based on the past is called having characteristics because it takes the characteristics of clearly experienced past events as its object. Although the characteristics of future objects are clearly present, they are only called having characteristics because the object has not been experienced, and because it is not clear. What is called "self-destruction," etc., refers to the distinctions of self-nature arising from proximity, etc., which are of three types. Association is also of two types: afflicted and non-afflicted. Others are explained elsewhere. What is called "regarding previously experienced things" refers to things that are similar to what was previously experienced and are currently occurring. Because they follow previous experiences and are fabricated, and are grasped as characteristics and then entered into, they are considered to have characteristics. Here, it is believed that whatever exists and is manifest is a special characteristic. Therefore, discrimination regarding the future does not have characteristics, because although there are characteristics to be made, they are not existent and manifest. Regarding discrimination based on the past, due to relatedness, neither can be said, because the characteristics to be made are not clear, and they are not existent and manifest. Therefore, it is not mentioned here. In that case, it is not discrimination based on an object, so it cannot be all-inclusive. What is called "solely by the power of the object" means that even without intention, etc., it is solely due to the object being close and abiding. From certainty onwards, all repeated discriminations are only individual discriminations. What is called "unspecified" refers to the unlabelled and unspecified, because the afflicted has already been specified. Regarding the nonexistent
