Those refuted the arguments. That time is temporarily put aside. Regarding what is called "afflicted mind" and so on. The view of taking that as self is that it takes the alaya-vijnana as its object, arises simultaneously, and always arises, and so are the others. Why is the afflicted mind considered to be always associated with those four afflictions alone? Because when practicing all kinds of good deeds, it is associated with the subtle ego-grasping that is born together with the body, so it will be attached to "I" and "mine." Because it does not arise without it, there will be craving and pride for "I." If there is no ignorance, others will not arise, so it is said that there is ignorance. Therefore, it is neither few, nor are anger and so on contrary to this, so it is not many either. The extensive aspects will be analyzed and summarized below. The nature of the afflicted mind, as stated above, should also be understood through scriptural and logical proofs. Among them, the scriptural proofs are the Mahayana and the Sravakayana. As it is said in the Sutra of the Noble White Lotus, "Mind, intellect, and consciousness, in terms of nature and meaning, should be well observed. The eight are different in nature, without self-nature and without characteristics." Also, as it is said in the same sutra, "Likewise, the seven consciousnesses are associated with the mind." Similarly, when previously analyzing the alaya-vijnana, the two verses that appeared in the Sutra of the Noble Dense Array should also be repeated. As it is said in the Miscellaneous Sutras, "The afflicted mind is always, also arises together with afflictions, afflictions arise and cease together, it has not been liberated from afflictions, then it does not change." The logical proof is that consciousness is arising simultaneously with a place different from the place of seeds, because there are various differences such as good. Like eye consciousness, the dissimilar dharmas are space and so on. Also, because it arises from the immediately preceding mind, it is the same as before. Similarly, for form and so on.

It is because of clinging to the object, just like before. Or, like the wisdom that relies on completely cutting off the realm of Dharma, the aspect is like that. If it is said that the basis has become a form, therefore the argument is contradictory, that is also not the case, because the Sarvāstivādins and the venerable Sthaviras have also done harm. And, the consciousness of mind is one that arises together with the basis, because there is conceptualization, or because the realm of Dharma becomes the object, just like the mind-born that abides in it, therefore, such recollections have also done harm. It is also not undetermined by the noble path, some say, because it is transformed by the mind. Others say, because it is a specific part of the contaminated and worldly realm, therefore the mind is established. What is meant by "who abides closely by distinguishing the object" refers to the arising of distinguishing the object, which is also the characteristic of all consciousnesses, but nevertheless, it is separated from the distinction of the seven consciousnesses, therefore only the consciousness of mind should be grasped. As for the form that is invisible and unobstructed, there are two types: the substantially existent and the nominally existent. What is the result achieved by the excellence of samādhi, that is the substantially existent. That samādhi is also worldly and contaminated, not supramundane and uncontaminated. That is because it is non-conceptual. Because that form is accomplished by conceptual samādhi, it is merely an appearance, and there is neither smell nor earth, etc., because there is no cause for arising, and because there is no need. If you ask, then won't it appear that "the form of the object of samādhi below is caused by the great elements that are only in accordance with which samādhi"? There, the dependent result is merely expressed by the support, just like "my meaning is heard by these aspects." Corresponding to which ground

The samadhi that relies on the great elements is shown to be the fruit of those elements. That is, it relies solely on absorption, not on the great elements. As it is also said in the "Collection of Determinations": "The form of the fruit of absorption that belongs to the sphere of phenomena should be understood to rely solely on absorption, not on the great elements. Because samadhi is accomplished by focusing on an image similar to it, it is only said that the great elements are the cause, but it does not arise by relying on them." Whatever is not a transforming form is a nominal existence, because it is posited on the mind of abandonment. It is called form because it is spoken of as the wind element that moves the body and speech due to the difference of that mind. It is also not possessed, because it does not belong to the aggregate of formations. In order to separately indicate the seeds, it is said, "all seeds." Why are things like the previously non-existent and vases not mentioned? Because those are not different from the mind and mental factors, because they are only marks of the images of the mind and mental factors. Or, those are just words, because they are not other things than the objects, just like transformations. Attention and so on, the five of attention and so on, have already been discussed in the context of the ground associated with the five aggregates of consciousness. The remaining direct perception and inference are the same as before. The scriptural authority should be stated, as the Blessed One said, "All dharmas arise from desire as their root." Similarly, my mind believes that these six internal sources are without self. Similarly, memory, recollection, superior memory, close memory, the nature of memory itself, the nature of non-forgetfulness, and the manifestation of mind are called.
