Holding that which distinguishes. To discriminate well the Dharma is its basis, such as the Sutras, which discriminate well the Dharma. Thus, relying on it, one can distinguish the former two. Among them, to ascertain and hold through discrimination is thought. To ascertain and hold through good discrimination is correct thought. To ascertain and hold through good discrimination of the Dharma is approximate thought. Among them, the former is the path of universal seeking. This is the path of accurate determination. Another term: thought is to focus attention on an object of knowledge. Correct thought is to fully seek after focusing. Approximate thought is to determine after fully seeking. Reliance is knowing the body of discrimination. Correct thought is knowing the object of knowledge. Another term: it is showing from the perspective of its own characteristics. It is correct thought from the perspective of general characteristics. Holding existence is holding as much as there is and how it is. Increasing and expanding are from before and after. Retention is not forgetting its meaning before and after. Intelligence is the innate wisdom that can discriminate. The wise are those who have truly received wisdom. The sphere of wisdom is relying on teachings and recitation, as well as fully questioning and accurately determining eloquent speech, etc., understanding the meaning, and that wisdom which is able to understand more and more deeply. Vipashyana is individually examining the meaning that has already been understood. Focusing is the attention directed towards an object preceded by thought, and focusing the mind on it. Such focusing is what makes the end dull. Thought is grasping at characteristics. Good thought is grasping at manifest signs. Another term: thought is thinking with a mind that seeks universally. Good thought is individually thinking by observing universally. Manifest thought is thinking about qualities and faults. They themselves are separately thinking and separately enumerating based on teachings. Thinking and separately thinking based on direct perception. Correctly thinking based on inference.

, as well as truly realizing. Complete abandonment means that abandoning with higher intention will definitely arise. Differentiated abandonment means truly receiving from others. Near abandonment means guarding the precepts after truly receiving. Individual abandonment means that when transgressions occur, they are also removed according to the Dharma. Among them, guarding the precepts with both true discipline and discipline, among which true discipline is patience, taming, having few desires, and loving-kindness, etc. Discipline is guarding the gates of the senses. What should not be done is that one should not do it oneself, nor should one teach others to do it. What should not be practiced is not practicing with mindfulness. Non-practice is not practicing with remembrance. Crossing over means relying on this to transcend sinful dharmas. The right time is to abide in opposition to it, and to rely on the antidotes to all the dharmas that arise as obstacles to it, and not to accept and abandon them. Possessing abandonment means having complete higher intention for those abandonments. Not transgressing means not distinguishing or abandoning all the collections of learning. Not separately transgressing means not diminishing or abandoning any side. Abiding means that which can cause the mind to abide. Truly abiding means what is truly abiding, extensively explained, it should be understood as the appearance of the nine types of mind-abiding arising from the Hearer's Ground. The verses say: Knowing, seeing, and good, desire, diligence, solitary, and detached, dust, disease, appearance, and self, love cut off, birth exhausted, gods, co-born, many people, aggregates, and self-grasping. What is called knowing refers to the wisdom that is preceded by the term of hearing. What is called seeing refers to the wisdom that is preceded by the term of seeing. What is called awareness refers to the wisdom that is preceded by the term of distinguishing differences. What is called understanding refers to the wisdom that is preceded by the term of understanding. Wisdom is knowing hidden things. Seeing is seeing what is manifestly present. Awareness is understanding the difference that is contrary to ignorance. Intelligence is knowing the meaning of what truly exists. Realization is falsely conjecturing about what is not real.
