Is it said because it possesses the same as desire? Or because various enjoyments have become like the place of desire? What should be clung to is because it has become the place of clinging. Because it universally combines with the five things, therefore it is the universal combiner. The five kinds of things are: things to be universally combined, universal combiner, faultless things, homogeneous things, and things of the realm of existence. Among them, things to be universally combined are the objects of the universal combiners, like this, because of following the respective characteristics of attachment and so on, therefore it universally combines with it. The universal combiners also internally attract each other, therefore it is the universal combiner. The basis of universal combination will generate faults of the present life, and the physical and mental suffering and unpleasantness arising from it are also experienced separately. Therefore, because there is no fault, it also universally combines with things. Because in the future it will become the cause of the nature of strong attachment and so on, it also universally combines with homogeneous things. Because it takes the five realms of existence, it universally combines in all realms of existence. Because of that reason, misconduct is universal behavior, because oneself is expelled, killed, bound, beaten, insulted, driven away, etc. by others, causing harm, therefore it will cause harm to oneself. Even if it is not to oneself, but because it produces to others, it will cause harm to others. Because it produces to both, it will cause harm to both. The so-called generating faults of the present life is the same as what was said before, it does not necessarily lead to falling into the lower realms. For the next life, if others do not understand this, but because of its cause, they will fall into the lower realms. If others understand this, they will also fall into the lower realms, that is both the present life and the next life. The physical and mental suffering and unpleasantness arising from it are because for those who have become attached, they cannot obtain it as they wish. Mainly, it is uni

There are only nine ways of combining. Because it does not do all that is desired, there are three bonds: desire, hatred, and ignorance. Because they are controlled by the three feelings, they cannot be liberated even if they want to be liberated from them. That which is in accordance with the seeds of bad circumstances on the side of affliction is latent, because the subsequent connection is very subtle. Because the root is mentioned, there are seven. Because they arise from affliction, and are close to affliction, and because they make the mind-continuum close to affliction, they are the near afflictions. Except for latency, the afflictions that arise from the mind. Because the continuum of birth is not interrupted, they are the pervasive entanglements, such as shamelessness and the like, which are eight. Because they make the continuum very stable. Because they make the body and mind incapable, they are the burdens, like an incapable, rough field. According to the difference of the support, the difference of doubt is the five burdens of the mind. The three, desire and the like, are impurities because they are impure. Because they constantly flow from the doors of the sense-fields and cause intense harm, they are the constant flows. Because they do not pacify, they are the thorns, like a thorn that has not been pulled out. Because they obstruct equanimity and are associated with elaboration, they are everything. Because they are close to non-dharma and inconsistent conduct, they are misconduct. Because afflictions and misconduct universally arise, they are the roots. Because they generate birth in the future, they are the outflows. Because after birth they are harmed by aging and death and the like, they are the harms. Because of encountering the unpleasant, separating from the pleasant, and not obtaining what is desired, they are the universal torments. Because of sorrow and lamentation, suffering and discomfort, and disturbance, they are the disturbances. Because they make the continuum tend to one side, they are the rivers. From the beginning of the past, up to the method of birth and cyclic existence in the present dharma.
