Oh! Stooping and hunching over, like a bent body leaning forward, is like having cotton in the mouth. A body covered in black moles is when the black moles make the body mottled. Bearing great responsibility is when there are not many immediate tasks, standing up and forming things. Weakness is when the senses do not wander much in various places. Decline is when memory and intelligence are not abundant. Complete decline is when the senses and so on, those very things, in an instant and a moment, those very things pass away and diminish. The senses being fully mature is the distinction of those very things. Conditioned phenomena becoming old is when the places of the senses are in other times. Aging is when those very things change into something else. Death transference is when the body is completely abandoned. Death transference is the moment of death itself. Destruction is when a body remains like a corpse. Disappearance is when it does not exist in a certain place. Re-destruction is the body of form. Disappearance is the body of name. The saying "life diminishes and warmth diminishes" is when, at the time of death, it resides in the heart. The cessation of the power of life is when all life is exhausted. Death is when consciousness is completely abandoned in the heart. Passing away is from then on, after death, one or two days, or three days, or seven days. For the six sense bases, all childish beings cling to self, and therefore attachment arises. Because of clinging to what is mine, close attachment arises. The view of the aggregates of destruction is that those who have the root of the views of each world, and those who are under the power of pride with the thought of "I", the actions of craving, are even more attached. For the six sense bases like the place of pleasant feeling, one experiences with attachment. For a place like the place of painful feeling, one abandons with hatred. For a place like the place of neither painful nor pleasant feeling, one accepts with ignorance. For the past six sense bases, one increases with looking back. For the future, one abides with joy. For what is happening now, one clings with intense attachment. For the six sense bases that are completely taken by oneself and exist in the continuum of others, one considers them as one's own.

For those things that are not possessed by oneself but exist in the continuum of others, whether inferior, middling, or superior, arrogance arises based on the form of pride. A yogi in a state of equipoise, with respect to things that correspond to desire, will continuously seek higher and higher states. A yogi in a state of equipoise, with respect to things that correspond to the form and formless realms, relies on them because they are vast and abundant. Relying on the side of householders, with respect to forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects, one experiences taste because one follows after the cycle through the gateway of taste. Relying on the side of renunciants, with respect to the six sense sources, one does not abandon them in all respects because one possesses laziness and carelessness. Desire, suffering, joy, and satisfaction—these four terms, in brief, should be understood as fully revealing the objects of desire. The objects of desire, in brief, are of three kinds: that which should be sought, that which should be investigated, and that which should be especially clung to. Among these, future desire is desire because it is that which should be sought. Past desire is suffering because it is merely desire that has been done and joy that has been experienced. Objects of desire that arise in the present are of two kinds: objects of the field and objects of experience. Among these, as much as there is desire for objects of the field, that is joy. Whatever desire there is for objects that have been experienced, that is satisfaction. Objects of desire, whether past, future, or present, whether objects of the field or experience, are exhausted in just these. All of these that should be sought, that should be investigated, that should be especially clung to, are indicated by these terms. Desire is because it should be sought relying on future time. Suffering is because it is to be desired relying on present time, as it is never satisfied. Satisfaction is because it is expressed manifestly through remembering in the mind, relying on past time. The nature of joy is that it becomes desire in the three times relying on suffering, and it is expressed manifestly through desire and satisfaction. Possessing desire
