For the feeling of suffering, one becomes angry. Universal ignorance is being deluded by all three. Regarding the past, it is holding views. Regarding the future, it is being connected in mind. Slowness is dwelling on fully seeking its basis. Disease is having a troubled mind towards desired attainments. Complete torment is for unattained desires. Strife is because what has been obtained completely changes. 'Universally instigating' means it indicates the craving of closely taking things like spectacles and auspiciousness. 'Joy' means it indicates the craving of closely taking the supreme holding. 'Seeking' means it indicates the craving of closely taking the gain of abundant giving. 'Manifest joy' means it indicates the craving of closely taking the existence of single-mindedly contemplating what is agreeable. The mind engages in those very things. 'Extremely arrogant' means expanding, like this: it should be understood from the five realms that necessarily arise in the state of equipoise. Intoxication is having three kinds of pride. Extreme intoxication is relying on pride, and the mind does not completely guard against sinful, unwholesome things. Becoming extremely arrogant is applying oneself to committing all sins. Becoming arrogant is universally instigating the cause of arrogance and then dwelling. Becoming universally arrogant towards desires is enjoying desires without seeing faults. Tranquility is based on the self-nature of feeling happiness. Experiencing is based on the general characteristic. Becoming a feeling is based on the nature of the cause of feelings other than that of becoming a feeling. Desire, attachment, special attachment, complete bondage, complete clinging, and universal attachment are like this: it should be understood from the ground arising from hearing. Inner impurity is holding the thought of harboring resentment. The inner rival is creating obstacles to desire. The inner opponent is directed towards what is unwanted. The inner enemy is directed towards what is discordant. Displeasure, such as desire and unpleasantness, is the opposite of desire and so on. Suffering is by nature.
