When arising from activity, and when standing up and abiding, and when feelings of settling down arise, and when abiding, and when ceasing, knowing them as they truly are, is noble mindfulness and awareness. The feelings of cessation samadhi, as they truly are, are the same as the perceptions of signless samadhi, and the thoughts of no-thought and no-analysis samadhi. Therefore, merely holding to the Dharma is called mindfulness, that is, there is no clinging to self or what belongs to self in feelings, perceptions, and thoughts. When a child's awareness of feelings and perceptions, and thoughts arise, the child does not perceive those feelings and other dharmas as merely dharmas, but rather clings to them, thinking, "I feel this," and so on, and this is extensively explained. Therefore, that That also does not become mindfulness and awareness, so how could it become excellent? Therefore, the most excellent mindfulness and awareness should be understood as belonging to a non-returner or an Arhat. The earliest is the ordinary person who has gained attention and is unrestrained, up to and including a once-returner. The Tathagata, for two reasons, namely, his own body aging, and by speaking of forgetfulness, to arouse weariness in those who are intoxicated and unrestrained by the blossoming of youth, and in the future, when monks become old and weak, those things will also cause the new monks to become unrestrained without paying attention, and the new monks will also preach the Dharma to others without paying attention and without shame, in order to skillfully guide the hearers to preach the Dharma to others. The Dharma talks of those who gather and abide should be understood as two types: definitive talks and teaching talks. Among them, definitive talks are those that dispel doubts by asking questions. Teaching talks are those that teach the Dharma to those who listen to the Dharma in silence and abide. Instruction that follows the teaching is called conforming in four ways, namely, with the distinction of the sense bases, the view of knowing that all conditioned things are without self is pure, and the place and
