Like a mountain peak shifting, the past dies and transmigrates with a death similar to itself, and dies in accordance. When the past dies in accordance, it connects with the continuum of formations similar to it and takes up the future. These six types of death should also be understood as two: the faults of engaging in formations and the benefits of ceasing formations. Among these, the past, the present occurrence, the untamed, the similar deaths, as well as the future taking up, the suffering of birth and so on, and the bonds of afflictions such as desire, are the faults of engaging in formations. When the present occurs, the tamed and dissimilar deaths, as well as the future non-taking up, and liberation from the bonds of suffering and afflictions, are the benefits of ceasing formations. For the manifest accomplishment of formations, it will become the number of individuals designated by these eight aspects: the name is this, the lineage is this, the clan is this, the food is eaten like this, happiness and suffering are experienced like this, the lifespan is this long, the duration of stay is this long, the end of life is this much, and so on. The distinctions of these types are as before, and should be understood as it is stated from the previous dwelling place of the Bodhisattva grounds. The complete knowledge and abandonment of the selflessness of formations should be understood as three types: namely, inner complete knowledge, outer complete knowledge, and inner and outer complete knowledge; abandonment is also the same. That is, these formations are not self, these are not mine, these are not anyone else's, thinking thus, one should understand and abandon inner, outer, and both, according to what is appropriate. Among these, what is ascertained by knowing the system of Dharma is complete knowledge. Among these, abandoning the latent tendencies that correspond to it through habituation is abandonment. Among those who have not completely known the formations, the teacher teaches the Dharma in order to make them completely know. For those who have completely known but have not abandoned, how to obtain

Merely by being accustomed to fully understanding, one also truly enters in order to abandon it. These three are bonds when entering samsara, and it is difficult to liberate the mind from them. Moreover, liberation comes from the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, not from bad speech. What are the three? Namely, apart from the attachment-following all-bonds, the other all-bonds cause all-bonds, that is, whatever things are with defilements; and the attachment-following all-bonds cause attachment, that is, whatever things are with defilements; and also the formations that produce existence in the future become manifest. From these three kinds of bonds, it is difficult for the mind to be liberated by three kinds of causes. The first is because of the variety of forms. The second is because of clinging to them inwardly and wanting them. The third is because they are very subtle. Being bound by the five forms that bind to existence, it should be understood that the five kinds of pride of 'I am' are universally practiced, namely: basis, object, friend, nature, and cause and effect. Among them, relying on the view of the perishable aggregate, one focuses on existence and non-existence, thinking, 'Will I exist in the future? Or will I not exist?' Among them, focusing on non-existence is only one way. Focusing on existence is five ways, namely, thinking, 'Will I become with form? Without form? With perception? Without perception? Or will I become something that is neither with perception nor without perception?' When all of these are combined into one, there are six objects. Among them, a friend is what agitates and distracts the mind. Among them, nature is the nature of arrogance through one's own characteristics, and the nature of elaboration through the characteristics of afflictions in general. Among them, the nature of cause and effect is practiced through the nature of the cause of arising and manifesting, because karma is manifestly performed and follows after craving. Furthermore, through the nature of the result, the pride of 'I am' that relies on it is universally practiced.
