It is said to be completely liberated from the four bonds. In summary: the condensed essence of the instructions and the result of the instructions; death and entering into numbers; completely knowing and abandoning the three; bondage and complete liberation; view and pride, all afflictions; the place of expressing purification; the four kinds of extreme solitude; and the three perfections. The Shravakas seek the condensed essence of the instructions from what is taught by the three causes. What are the three? Those who are devoted to listening and do not incline towards diligently striving in a way that is not this, even by merely hearing the condensed Dharma, will obtain their own benefit, so focusing on listening is meaningless, and for the sake of cherishing only diligent striving, the meaning of turning away from devotion to listening, and for those who do not incline towards engaging in many activities or entering out of fear, the meaning of entering through skillful means, or because he has already well heard and contemplated many Dharmas, he thinks to himself: I have well heard and contemplated many Dharmas, if I were to rely on all those Dharmas that I have heard and contemplated, and direct my mind towards the object of abiding in stillness, or the object of liberation, then my attention would also become confused, and I would not be able to attain stillness, so how could I see liberation? Thinking thus, from those Dharmas of hearing and contemplation, depending on what will the mind abide on the object, or for the task of liberation, manifest knowledge be swift, and quickly and certainly arising also be uncertain, thus he shows uncertainty to himself, or seeing the wise Shravakas of the Tathagata manifest, and then going differently, thereby seeking the condensed essence of the instructions. The fruit of the true essence of the instructions should be known as obtaining one's own benefit in four ways, namely: for what purpose does one renounce, and how does one renounce, that is: perfect attire, perfect activity, perfect intention, and perfect abandonment and acceptance of dwelling, relying on that, obtaining the unsurpassed, and obtaining in this life, and obtaining by oneself, and obtaining individual self-realization.

Chapter Twenty. These six are death, namely: past death, present death, untamed death, tamed death, similar death, and dissimilar death. Past death refers to the death from the passing away of past formations until the cessation of the life faculty. Present death refers to the death from the passing away of present formations until the cessation of the life faculty. Untamed death refers to the formations in the past that were untamed, unpacified, and possessed latent tendencies, with each mutually latent, and the latent tendencies of the individual designated nominally. After they die, they connect their nature in the present. The body fully grasped by formations with latent tendencies manifests and is accomplished. In the present, the end of life is exhausted, and similarly, from being untamed and not fully tamed, it dies from growth, and in the future, the body manifests and is accomplished, and the formations with latent tendencies are taken up. Because of taking these up, one is bound by the distinctions of suffering such as birth, and by the great bonds such as desire. Tamed death refers to being tamed and fully tamed in the present, without latent tendencies. After death, the body will not manifest and be accomplished in the future, and the formations with latent tendencies will not be taken up. Because these are not taken up, one will be completely liberated from the distinctions of suffering such as birth, and from the great bonds such as desire. Similar death refers to if one dies in the past in the same way as being untamed, and in the present the death is the same, then that is a similar death. It should be known that the equivalent death and the consistent death are also the same. Dissimilar death refers to if one dies in the past with an untamed death, and in the present becomes tamed, then that death is a dissimilar death. It should be known that the non-equivalent death and the inconsistent death are also the same. The present formations with latent tendencies are mutually latent with each other.
