Therefore, it should be done in this way. Therefore, the mind is said to abide inwardly by not being distracted from the object of the sphere of activity of Samadhi. Since Samadhi is completely accomplished, it is not diminished. Since it is free from all defilements, it is extremely pure. Since knowledge is completely purified, it is well cultivated. Since destruction is seen afterwards, there is no tasting (of the flavors of samsara), therefore the mind is definitely virtuous and without fault. There are two types of individuals: those who have not guarded the sense faculties and those who have guarded them. What is an individual who has not guarded the sense faculties? For example, here, some people do not pay attention to objects in a proper way, and are completely bound by attachment to pleasant forms, and also completely bound by aversion to unpleasant forms. They do not remember the faults of that object, and even if they do remember, they are overwhelmed by attachment because they have not cultivated well. They are also unable to overcome the attachment that has already arisen, and are also ordinary beings. They have not attained the learning mind and wisdom liberation, and even if they have attained it, they are not skilled in truly knowing the higher non-learning mind and wisdom liberation as they are. Because they do not know, the learning mind and wisdom liberation will not be completely perfected. Therefore, since they do not rely on the power of their cultivation, they have not truly destroyed the bad rebirth of the defilement side, and since they do not rely on the power of previous individual examination, they have not made themselves mindful, therefore it should be known as not guarding the sense faculties. An individual who has not guarded the sense faculties should be known as three types: those who do not have an antidote gathered by attachment and the power of individual examination. Those who do not have an antidote gathered by the power of cultivation. The opposite of this should be known as guarding the sense faculties by the white side. A Hearer is like this: through the way of distinguishing the meaning in detail, it is said in two ways, and it only conveys and shows the true words spoken by the Tathagata. What are these two ways? That is, conveying the intention that is spoken only for something, and reaching that intention,

The teachings of the Tathagata are diverse and extensive, and the inclinations of beings are also varied. Therefore, one should guide them in a way that does not contradict the nature of reality, based on these differences. A newly ordained monk who is exceedingly delighted with the well-spoken Vinaya should be known to have two signs: unchanging body and unchanging mind. Their complexion is bright, and their face is radiant; their body is strong, and their senses are developed; this is unchanging body. Being content with meager things, abandoning the desire to pursue pleasure, and not considering lineage or family, this is unchanging mind. These three are the antidotes to lust. For unarisen lust, they prevent it from arising; for arisen lust, they cause it to be abandoned. That is: attending to what should not be done, attending to impure things, and guarding the sense doors. Among these, the concise and extensive explanation of guarding the sense doors is as follows: it should be understood as the practice of a Shravaka. By guarding the sense doors, one can well protect the body, avoiding touching women. Not seeing, not hearing, and not remembering women is to well guard the senses. Even if one has seen, heard, or remembered, one should mostly see their faults, and through long-term familiarization, one can well maintain mindfulness. Thus, having well protected the body, well guarded the senses, well maintained mindfulness, and also attending to what should not be done, then even if the mind is as wild as a wild horse, it will not be overcome by afflictions. By also attending to impure things, even if the mind changes rapidly, it will not be overcome by afflictions. Summary: Circumstances and conceptual thoughts, wishes and all kinds, guarding and not guarding, acting and accumulating, fulfilling the precepts and constant clinging, unskilled in meaning and inverted continuity, the distinction of Bodhisattvas, and imputation is also not ultimate. The six sense spheres of contact are the feelings projected by past actions and afflictions, as well as the continuum of one's own seed.
