That which exists is observed as different in relation to other kinds, but not different in relation to the past and future of its own kind. The cessation of the six sense sources is the characteristic of permanence and peace, therefore these four elaborations cannot be analyzed and examined. Among them, whatever thinks, distinguishes, and speaks in a way that does not correspond to meaning is called elaboration. Why? Because by acting in that way, no virtuous dharma will increase, and no non-virtuous dharma will decrease, therefore it is called elaboration. If there is desire and attachment to the internal and external sense sources, then whether the object appears or is hidden, the senses cannot be made more calm, therefore it is called bondage. If there is no desire and attachment, then even if the object appears, the senses can be made more calm, let alone when it is hidden? Therefore it is called liberation. Having purified the Brahma conduct for a long time, for those who have abandoned the grasping of aggregates and sense sources as self and what belongs to self, even if the suffering of bodily feelings is forced to the point of taking life, the body will not change, and the mind will not change, this is called his roots being very subdued and constantly firm. Thus, the very subdued roots are to obtain four kinds of joy because of being liberated from the four kinds of suffering, namely: arising from external causes in the next life, arising from internal causes in the next life, the two that arise from the aggregates at the time of complete nirvana in this life, and after death, all suffering itself has no connection, therefore the world is seen as being like grass and trees. Among them, he sees the world of the six sense sources as being like grass and trees in two ways: the perception of no sentient beings like grass and trees, such as: taking the six sense sources like grass and trees in order to be burned by the fire of desire, hatred, and ignorance. The Shravaka's pure Brahma conduct is well practiced, and there will be no suffering of rebirth in the next life either.

Regarding the matter of arising (suffering), although the Tathagata is like (others) who possess the power of wisdom, they are different in terms of preventing the arising of suffering caused by the conditions of this life, and in terms of quickly abandoning what has already arisen. The Tathagata possesses both kinds of wisdom power, therefore it should be understood that the Tathagata possesses unsurpassed wisdom. Some shramanas and brahmins, even for children who prioritize direct perception, do not make them completely ignorant, let alone the wise? It is too much for (the wise), because they rely on conceptual thoughts that become the basis and place of universal ignorance, either starting from the past extreme, or clinging to and being attached to this life in four ways, thereby wrongly establishing happiness and suffering. Among them, starting from the past extreme, because it arises from the cause of previous actions, it is definitely self-made; because it arises from the cause manifested by Ishvara, it is definitely made by others; initially it was made by Ishvara, and later it arose from the cause of previous actions, so it is both self-made and made by others; or they think it arises from no cause, neither self-made nor made by others, but arises from no cause. Or, for this life, due to self-satisfaction, whatever is produced by one's own efforts is established as only self-made. Without establishing it, without realizing it, whatever is done by others is done by others. They also acknowledge that, just as they perceive it, whatever is done by others is both self-made and made by others. For what does not arise from the efforts of oneself and others, but only from the manifested object, because they do not recognize its subtle cause—contact, it is established as neither self-made nor made by others, but arises from no cause. Among them, merely the meeting of the sense faculty, object, and consciousness produces happiness and suffering, but there is no past extreme or the self or other in this life, it is only the establishment of these three as self and other. Therefore, here, it should be understood that only contact is the cause that universally produces happiness and suffering.
