The gains and respect that come with it, those that appear now, also distract the mind. For those gains and respect that come from wandering, they also distract the mind, because they also distract the mind that abides. Things that have been used before while living at home also distract the mind. Therefore, it hinders ordinary people, and it also hinders practitioners. It also hinders the immeasurable samadhi that ordinary people cultivate. It also hinders the samadhi of the practitioner, which is vast because it realizes all knowable things. It also hinders the samadhi that the non-learner diligently cultivates, for example, it hinders birth. It should be known that all these samadhis are accompanied by joy. Among them, the first is accompanied by joy because of the thought of benefiting and bringing happiness to sentient beings. The second is for the sake of experiencing the joy of the liberation of the practitioner. The third is for the sake of experiencing the joy of the liberation of the non-learner. These also become six because of the difference in the objects of focus, such as form, which can be recognized by eye consciousness. That samadhi is also complete because it possesses all aspects, and the ultimate of samadhi is like this, for example, either becoming free from worldly desire, or becoming free from transcendental desire, and there is no samadhi that becomes more pure than that, therefore it is complete. Quickly wanting to renounce and practice, not caring about body and life, and constantly diligently practicing with respect, and abiding in mindfulness by fully understanding the nature of desires, and fully understanding the faults

Moreover, diligence is unremitting, and there is no discouragement in realization. Through the nine ways of abiding in the mind, focusing single-mindedly on calming, the body becomes very supple. Because there is no experience of taste, it is not completely afflicted. Because it is not troubled by dullness and sleep, there is no fault. Because of relying on single-minded mindfulness, the mindfulness focused on insight will remain, and because it is free from the near affliction of agitation, there is no complete affliction. The mind that enters the path of union of calm abiding and insight will become peaceful, and will possess the focus of both, thereby avoiding obstacles. Relying on these five antidotes, one can also fully understand and avoid obstacles, and be able to fully manifest the joy with three samadhis and six objects of focus. The Tathagata took examples from this for two reasons, and taught the Dharma to the Shravakas, in order to generate faith through the faults of the dark side and the merits of the white side. From the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, the Basic Collection, Volume Nine. The individuals of this Dharma and Vinaya are these two: namely, those who have heard the mind and those who have not obtained the mind. Among them, there are two who have obtained the mind: namely, those who have obtained the mind through the liberation of the learning mind that sees the truth, and the Arhat who has obtained the mind through the liberation of the learning mind. Among them, those who have not obtained the mind are: the first practitioners who abide in the three trainings, namely, ordinary beings, who in no way have obtained the mind through the two kinds of mind liberation. The nature of ordinary beings, before which is the Nirvana with remainder, and the nature of the body, before which is the Nirvana without remainder, greatly value the practice of the three trainings. Among them, those who have obtained the mind through the liberation of the non-learning mind, if they are negligent, will completely

Although one may decline, it is acceptable to completely decline from the happiness of this life, or not to decline at all, but only those who are not destined to completely decline from liberation. All that should be done with diligence is for the sake of realizing that liberation. Since he has already attained that liberation and will not decline from it, then for what reason should he be diligent? Whatever effort is made for the sake of being happy in this life is like the work of a craftsman, and that is not diligence. Whoever has attained the mind through the liberation of learning will surely go to complete enlightenment, and will not rely on others to meditate on the path. His diligence is under his own control, and he will never be deceived by carelessness in this life. Whoever sees the mind in all things must be diligent in three ways: by properly training the senses to perfect the accumulation of merit, by relying on suitable places to abide in the mind, and by relying on noble individuals, from the cause of properly attending to the words of others, up to the two kinds of liberation of the mind, one must be diligent. For one who abides in diligence, one should recognize the arising of pride in the cessation of the six sense spheres through two causes, and the non-arising of pride. As if they have not ceased, for example: by wrongly examining from the perspective of the object, and then clinging to the idea that they can be stopped; and by wrongly examining what has not been attained, and then clinging to the idea that they can be stopped, although he wrongly examines and believes that they can be stopped, nevertheless, after that person's body separates and life ends, the six sense spheres will not cease, nor will he be separated from the perception of objects. For example: because of his object of the place where the six sense spheres have ceased, and because of his wrongly understanding from the perspective of realization, that is how it will be, and these are the two kinds of pride. The opposite of that is to know that there is no pride. For the two attachments of this Dharma practitioner, one should know that there are two faults, that is, arising from the two conditions of each ordinary person.
