Some are created by thought, and some are created for others by their consciousness. For these, it should be recognized that only thought is important, and matter is not important. What is not mistaken should be recognized as the opposite of this. Among them, what will definitely be experienced are the heavy deeds that are deliberately thought about. What may not be experienced are the non-heavy deeds that are deliberately thought about. Among them, the fully ripened result is the fruit that has already ripened. The opposite of this is the unripened result. Among them, when attaining the state of an Arhat, the previously performed deeds that will definitely be experienced can create obstacles because they are close to ripening, but not because they are connected to the continuum. Why is that? Because that deed will manifestly accomplish a state that is incompatible with it, and because of that obstacle, one cannot attain the state of an Arhat. If it is not experienced after birth, but is to be experienced at another time, then it cannot create obstacles to attaining the state of an Arhat, but even so, it is not that it will not be experienced. Why is that? Because the companion of afflictions exists, and the intention also exists, therefore it is called something that will definitely be experienced. Virtuous deeds are distinguished by two causes: accepting pleasant results, and fully understanding the correct object as it is, which is its result. Non-virtuous deeds are also distinguished by two causes: accepting unpleasant results, and clinging to wrong objects. For both virtuous and non-virtuous situations, what is not indicated is what is not indicated. Among them, the happiness to be experienced is what is associated with the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the virtuous deeds performed in the desire realm. The suffering to be experienced is the karma that will cause rebirth in the lower realms. The happiness experienced by those born as animals and hungry ghosts arises from the cause of previous karma, and it should be recognized that this is transformed from the karma of experiencing happiness. What will be experienced as neither suffering nor happiness is the fourth dhyana.

And beyond that. Except for sentient beings who are certain to fall into hell, it should be understood that those who are not in the hell realm have feelings that lead to both happiness and suffering. What is the reason for this? It is because this body exists while being harmed by the mixture of happiness and suffering. What is to be experienced in this life is whatever will mature in this life, whether it is such a thought or action, such a material action, or what is done in such a field through the actions of body and speech. What will not mature in this life but will mature in the life immediately after birth is what will be experienced after birth. What will not mature in this life, nor mature after birth, but will mature after that, will be experienced in other instances. The noble Hearers who constantly train in the wisdom endowed with higher morality and higher mind, the uncontaminated qualities they obtain, and the contaminated virtuous qualities obtained thereafter, are those in training. All that exists in the continuum of the Arhats who are beyond learning. That which is not that is neither in training nor beyond training. Whatever is associated with afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, and whatever thoughts arise from that, and all actions that lead to going to bad destinies, are to be abandoned by seeing. Whatever is associated with afflictions to be abandoned by meditation, and the thoughts that arise from that, are actions to be abandoned by meditation. What is not to be abandoned is all that is supramundane of those in training and those beyond training. Abandoning the non-virtuous actions intentionally thought of, done, and accumulated in this very life should be understood in three ways: abandoning in this life, abandoning after birth, and abandoning in other instances. Among these, abandoning in this life is, for example, if some people intentionally think of, do, and accumulate actions in this life, and then turn back from that action and correctly take up abandonment, but that is an ordinary being who is not free from desire, if he dies while abiding in that state, then after birth and in other instances, he will not do that action again, nor will he experience its maturation, and life
