Nor does he consider it sufficient to be content with just that, but dwells in a manner desiring to be even more prosperous than before. If one dwells diligently in this way, one will realize the truths and attain the wisdom of the noble transcendent ones. Relying on that, one purifies the mind from the afflictions that are associated with walking and dwelling on the path of meditation, and those that are associated with the support. When he dwells in a village or near a village, if he sees a young woman with a beautiful and attractive appearance, he contemplates ugliness in order to eliminate desire. Or, if others cause harm and disturbance, he contemplates loving-kindness in order to eliminate hatred. Thus, while walking, he purifies the mind from the afflictions. When he dwells in a secluded place, he meditates on mindfulness of breathing in and out in order to be free from thoughts such as desire. Thus, he purifies the mind from the afflictions that are associated with dwelling. Having attained transcendental wisdom, he relies on it and cultivates the perception of impermanence in all phenomena in order to eliminate the residue of the conceit of "I am." Thus, relying on a noble person, first giving the correct instruction, through this sequence, in order to attain the vajra-like samadhi, one also perfects the liberation of the learner, and in order to be free from all afflictions, one also perfects the liberation of the non-learner. What is liberation? Because the antidote of abandonment has arisen, all the bad destinies that belong to the side of afflictions have been thoroughly purified. Those afflictions that have been transformed into places have become of a nature that they will never arise again, that is what is called liberation. The noble Hearer, liberated from desire for the sphere of nothingness, cultivates the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, the remainder of existence, the peak of existence, and having dwelt there, immediately attains the exhaustion of defilements. During the state of remainder, he gradually abandons his defilements.

Therefore, if one has not yet attained detachment from the sphere of nothing whatsoever, then one will not immediately attain the cessation of outflows. Among these, the afflictions other than ignorance that correspond to desire are the outflows of desire. For sentient beings who have not detached from desire and those who have detached from desire, the form and formless realms, and the afflictions other than ignorance that correspond to these, are the outflows of existence. Except for the non-Buddhists, because they are deluded by wrong discriminations and overwhelmed by evil views, relying on these views, some seek the perfection of desire. Some seek perfection from detachment from desire to the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. For these individuals, the ignorance of the three realms is combined into one, and it should be understood that this is the establishment of the outflow of ignorance. Because of the connection with nine bases, it should be understood that there are nine pervasive bonds. What are the nine bases? For example, relying on the side of the householder, there is the pervasive entanglement of desire for objects that can be clung to, beings and non-beings; the pervasive entanglement of anger towards beings and non-beings that are contrary to that side; the pervasive entanglement of pride towards what is called a being; relying on the side of those who wrongly proclaim the Dharma, for example, hearing non-Dharma, improper attention, and the three pervasive entanglements of wrong faith in meditation that has not been fully grasped by skillful means; the pervasive entanglement of disbelief in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya; poverty of wisdom relying on the side of the renunciant; poverty of resources relying on the side of the householder. These nine bases, along with the pervasive bonds that arise in accordance with them, each correspondingly create pervasive bonds. Among these, due to the driving force of jealousy, being stingy with the Dharma towards those who have the same Dharma nature will lead to poverty of wisdom in the future. The rest should also be combined accordingly. Among these, bound by the bonds of desire
