Refuting the theory of self and establishing the theory of no-self. Among them, refuting the theory of self is: If the self has autonomy over actions that are painful and not painful, then the self should always desire happiness and be contrary to suffering. Therefore, only merit should arise, and non-merit should not arise. Because of the approach of suffering, the internal and external activities change and transform, and from this, sorrow and lamentation arise. This is unreasonable. If the self is deliberately accomplished after observation, then it should always exist and should not change in this way, but it does not exist in this way. This is the refutation. Establishing the theory of no-self is: Because activities are dependently originated, there are causes of merit, and thus merit arises; conversely, non-merit arises; from this cause, the results of suffering and non-suffering arise, which also depend on causes, so they are impermanent. On the activities that exist only as a continuum of cause and effect, self and so on can be nominally established. But in the ultimate sense, all dharmas are without self, so this is the establishment of the theory of no-self. From the perspective of a learner, the non-learner is more superior in five ways. The non-learner possesses unsurpassed wisdom, while the learner's wisdom is surpassable. Just as wisdom is surpassable, the path and liberation should also be known as unsurpassed. Because the eye of wisdom of the noble ones is extremely pure, they can see the Tathagata as the Dharmakaya, but the learner cannot. Because diligent practice is extremely complete, they can serve and honor the Tathagata, but the learner cannot. Therefore, this is the fifth difference. Called "Collecting and Distinguishing Activities from the Ground," the first collection is completed. From the Ground Collection of the Yogacarabhumi, Volume Seven. The general meaning is: establishment, knowledge, similarity, and detachment from desire are not the last. The summary is: establishment and distinction, ignorance and non-ignorance, instruction and liberation, afflictions and actions are vast. Feeling is of five kinds.

Its classification should be understood as: nature, basis, object, companion, and attendant. Among these, nature should be understood in three ways: pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither painful nor pleasant feeling. Its basis is sixfold: eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. The object is sixfold: forms and other objects. The companion is attention, thought, and other mental factors that are associated with them, whether they are virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral. The attendant is the mind that is associated with them, in which all three feelings arise and cease simultaneously, attending in the manner of a basis. This classification of the five feelings should be understood in eight distinctions: distinctions of internal sources, distinctions of external sources, distinctions of the six aggregates of consciousness, distinctions of the six aggregates of contact, distinctions of the six aggregates of feeling, distinctions of the six aggregates of perception, distinctions of the six aggregates of thought, and distinctions of the six aggregates of craving. In terms of the meaning of the combination of three, it should be understood as a threefold classification. In terms of the meaning of the cause of feeling, it is the fourth. In terms of the meaning of the fruit of contact arising from the combination of three, it is the fifth. In terms of the meaning of applying names after completely cutting off feeling, it is the sixth, such as, "I have experienced such pleasant or painful feeling," and also applying names to others. In terms of the meaning of afflictions and all-afflicting afflictions, the seventh and eighth distinctions should be understood. In order to encounter and separate from feeling, thought manifests. As much as thought manifests, that much craving desires and longs for. All are twofold: a part of all and all of all. Among these, saying that all is impermanent is said in terms of a part of all, for example, all conditioned things.
