One will be born on earth. There, from the aggregates, the view of the perishable aggregate in the form of accepting self and what belongs to self arises in dependence on that. There, the complete transformation of the aggregates will arise in two ways: complete transformation due to other causes, and complete transformation due to the mind's own wrong conception. There, the complete transformation from suffering is the form of being frightened by the fear of the future, and the form of being impoverished after what has already happened, and the form of looking at the fact that even after it has happened, that suffering will still arise, and the form of completely disliking the thought that the body will be completely transformed after nirvana, so that by entering in that way, it also obscures the joy that appears in the teachings, and it also obscures the joy that appears in nirvana. Regarding the object of focus and one's own field of activity, the grasping of self and what belongs to self enters through two doors, that is to say, the view of the perishable aggregate is combined with feeling through the doors of conception and experience. The two types of teachings, well-spoken and poorly-spoken, although the basis for remembering past lives is the same, it should be understood that there are three differences in making them defiled and purified. What are the three? Here, when the poorly-spoken teachings remember past lives, they do not know the self-characteristics and general characteristics of the aggregates as they really are, but regard the aggregates as permanent, or some as permanent, or impermanent, or arising without cause. The well-spoken teachings do not conceive in that way because they know. This is the first difference. Furthermore, the poorly-spoken teachings do not know that the samadhi on which they rely for remembrance is suffering as it really is, so they will taste the flavor, and after tasting the flavor, they will be attached to the past aggregates, and they will rejoice in the future, and they will be disgusted with what is happening now, and they will not enter for the sake of separation from desire or for the sake of cessation. It should be understood that the well-spoken teachings are the opposite of this. This is the second difference. Furthermore, the poorly-spoken teachings, because they enter in that inverted way, are defiled by the four types of defilements,

It also makes the birth of future existence manifest and accomplished. This is like: the all-pervasive affliction of karma, the all-pervasive affliction of clinging to views and the pride of "I am," the all-pervasive affliction of clinging to craving, and the all-pervasive affliction of their latent tendencies. That also does secret deeds, and also touches old deeds, and does not abandon them. This is the all-pervasive affliction of karma. Regarding conditioned phenomena, one views the aggregates as destructible, and after fully measuring and examining other sentient beings, ascetics, and Brahmins, one holds the thought, "I am great," or "I am equal," or "I am small." This is the all-pervasive affliction of clinging to views and the pride of "I am." The all-pervasive affliction of clinging to craving should be understood from those who practice craving based on internal or external factors. The all-pervasive affliction of their latent tendencies is the bad destination of views and the pride of "I am," which are related to their causes, and the side of craving. Those four aspects, when condensed, become two: karma and afflictions. All-pervasive afflictions are also clinging and latent tendencies. Although there are also all-pervasive afflictions that are not those, these afflictions are mentioned only briefly, considering the attachment that precedes wrong views about conditioned phenomena. Among these, without examining others, one wrongly grasps by looking at one's own conditioned phenomena, and after examining others, one wrongly grasps with the pride of "I am." That wrong grasp also belongs to the side of ignorance. The attachment that precedes it belongs to the side of craving. These two are the root afflictions, and through these two, the stream of samsara continues. The well-spoken Dharma, the Vinaya, is such that by entering into it correctly, abandoning the four kinds of all-pervasive afflictions, one attains complete nirvana in this life, and will also abide permanently in that completely perfect nirvana. The other one does not abide permanently in nirvana with that limb; this is the third distinction.
