Furthermore, if one delights in and craves the aggregates that constitute the abode of consciousness, and if one newly accumulates and gathers them in this life, then even if one has attained Arhatship, that consciousness with its seed will decay and be destroyed. Thus, its sprout will not arise. Moreover, some here possess all fetters and are intent on truly entering into Nirvana. They have a perception of aversion towards all places of birth. Because they possess all fetters, the seed has not been completely extinguished, and the abode of consciousness remains nearby. They also have a perception of aversion towards all existences, but they are without joy and desire. Thus, those who diligently practice in this way are destined to attain complete Nirvana in this very life, and for them, no sprout will arise. Furthermore, some are learners who are non-returners, having cultivated and abided in the remainder of the Formless Realm, the peak of existence, the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Their seed has not been completely extinguished in all ways, but they have fully known and comprehended the abode of consciousness. A small portion of the higher realms arising from forgetfulness exists. Thus, for such a non-returner, no lower sprout will arise in the future. All that is contrary to this should be understood as having the sprout of rebirth in existence. Defilements are of two kinds: defilements of view and defilements that are not of view. Among these, defilements of view refer to the view of the aggregates of destruction that arises from wrongly grasping the aggregates as self and belonging to self. Therefore, acknowledging the aggregates as self or belonging to self, and acknowledging those views of other non-Buddhist paths that arise from that root, are defilements of view. For defilements that are not of view, it should be understood that desire and so forth are the two kinds of defilements. Among these, when one is liberated from defilements of view, one is destined to attain permanent liberation from defilements that are not of view. If one is liberated from defilements that are not of view, then from defilements of view...

will not become one who has the fortune to be liberated. Why is that? For example, here, liberation from desire from the realm of nothingness downwards, is liberation of the mind through the mundane path from the non-that afflictions of the lower realm, but not from the view of the aggregates. Therefore, the body mixed with the formations of the lower and upper realms is accepted as self or belonging to self without distinction. Therefore, even if one has reached the peak of existence, one will turn back. But by the transcendental path, knowing all bodies to be suffering, one will not turn back by abandoning the view of the aggregates and abandoning afflictions that precede it. Therefore, here it should be known that only the afflictions of view are great afflictions. The single progression of the path should be known to be of three kinds. In the realm of ordinary beings, there are five kinds of examination of formations. That examination itself is purified in the two times of the entered learner's ground and the non-learner's ground. What are the five places to be examined? They are the examination of the nature of formations, the examination of causes, the examination of the cause of afflictions, the examination of the cause of purification, and the examination of purification. Previously, in the states of ordinary beings, having become skilled in the five places, the learner quickly attains direct perception from examining those places themselves with five kinds of non-that. What are the five? They are the cause of the formations of formations, the cause of afflictions, the pacification of the cause of purification as peace, the definite arising of the path that will become purification, and all formations are also of various kinds of nature, arising from their own seeds, and arising from non-that causes. It should be known that there are four kinds of complete explanation that obscure the two places. What are the four? In what situation does it arise, relying on what does it arise, how does it arise, and what kind of form does it arise. In this regard, one who is not a noble one and is not skilled in the truths will become a short-lived birth. That which is not noble is also not skilled in the five places.
