theirs. Suffering and unpleasantness are associated with sentient beings in hell. What does not transcend suffering belongs to the upper realms of gods, because they are related to suffering in the afterlife. Therefore, the formations of happiness are when the feeling that is neither suffering nor happiness manifests. What is related to happiness is the time of suffering. Happiness and pleasantness are related to the time when the feeling of happiness manifests. What does not transcend happiness is because everything is related to the cause and effect of happiness. The opposite of that should be understood as a category of suffering. Therefore, the formations of happiness are those cessations of the place of happiness that are associated with happiness. What is related to happiness is what will arise in the future because there is a cause of happiness. Those that are in accordance with happiness from the perspective of the present moment are those that are endowed with happiness and pleasantness. The other three times are those that do not transcend happiness. The opposite of that is the four categories of suffering, which should be understood appropriately. Summary: The two kinds of knowledge are related to the basis. Happiness is completely transformed, the sutras specifically spoken, and nirvana is transformed into two. There are two kinds of knowledge: correct knowledge and incorrect knowledge. Therefore, correct knowledge also arises in connection with a basis, and incorrect knowledge also arises in connection with a basis. Although both are related to a basis, correct knowledge is that which grasps the basis that is as it is, while incorrect knowledge is that which, through conceptualization, grasps the basis that is not as it is. If there is an object of knowledge that precedes it, correct knowledge arises through the cause of attending to what is taught correctly; if there is an object of knowledge, incorrect knowledge arises through the cause of attending to what is taught incorrectly. However, even after correct knowledge has arisen, it does not destroy the object of knowledge, but abandons attachment to the incorrect appearance of the object of knowledge, and only abides in the manifestation of the mere truth. For example, if a lamp appears to objects that are in the dark, the objects are not destroyed, but exist as they are.

It should be understood clearly and completely in this way. The formations of feeling pleasure, with the characteristic of impermanence, when they turn into a state of suffering, then it is called harm. When it turns into a state that is neither suffering nor pleasure, then it is said that it turns into suffering depending on the suffering of formations. If only the feeling of pleasure were to exist forever, and other states would never arise, this situation cannot be obtained. Whatever formations are related to the nature of birth, aging, etc., are suffering. Among them, those that turn into a state of illness are called harm. When it turns into a state of suffering such as birth and aging, it is called suffering. For these formations, just as birth and aging are related to the cause of suffering, may they never turn into the state of result, this situation cannot be obtained. All formations are dependently originated by nature, therefore they are without autonomy and without a master. If it becomes the master, then even though these formations are impermanent, they will constantly exist as desired, or they will not produce other kinds until before death. There are these two types of scriptures: those specifically taught and those not specifically taught. Among them, the specifically taught is that for the sake of taming a certain person, with whatever form of formations taught to tame, the formations of that form are taught for that person. The non-specifically taught is the talk that pleases in various ways in countless hundreds of thousands of kalpas, or the talk made in front of the Venerable Ananda who is in front of the teacher, just like this, it is for the sake of the long duration of the holy Dharma. If it is fully possessed of three branches, it should be known that Nirvana is complete, just like this: corresponding advice, correct examination of all formations, and abandonment of all afflictions. Among them, the corresponding advice is

Explaining after all expressions. The teachings gathered by the magical power of all expressions are: Among them, when the Tathagata considers what mind is all expressions, then he himself enters into samadhi, and distinguishes all other minds in three ways, namely, those that have been interrupted from one to another for a long time, those that have just been interrupted, and those that are now entering the object. After emerging from that samadhi, thinking in his mind about the mind of the other person experienced by samadhi, he prophesies without omission just as he experienced it, saying that this mind is like this, which refers to those that have been interrupted for a long time. The mind is like this, which refers to those that have just been interrupted. Consciousness is like this, which refers to the present. Moreover, this is from the perspective of determining the lineage, not from the perspective of determining the moment. Similarly, relying on the magical power of all expressions, he teaches instructions in three places. For those belonging to walking and wandering, he allows the manifestation of objects and proper attention. He prohibits improper attention. For those belonging to dwelling, he prohibits evil thoughts. He allows good thoughts. For those who diligently practice shamatha and vipassana, he allows abandoning all actions to be abandoned, and realizing nirvana by abandoning all afflictions. From the near afflictions belonging to the three places, the mind is completely purified, and this is the explanation of the instructions. For example, those belonging to walking and wandering, those belonging to dwelling, those belonging to the object of support, and the past, future, and present actions, if they are permanent, it is said that all actions are permanent. Abandoning the three leaks, and the poverty of desire that precedes the leaks, and the disturbance caused by seeking in the object that precedes the disturbance of the desire, and the disturbance caused by the disturbance of the desire, therefore it is called abandoning all afflictions. By abandoning all afflictions, the mind is completely liberated.
