I am not contradictory, and it is also called purity because it is beneficial to the knowledge of Dharma. There are two kinds of belief in the absence of self in all phenomena. One arises from hearing and thinking, and the other arises from realization through meditation. Among them, what arises from hearing and thinking serves as the basis for the arising of what arises from realization through meditation. Although that is good and excellent, a son of good family who has renounced the world with faith should not be content with just that. One should only strive to rely on that, and through the stages of meditating on impermanence and other thoughts, one should strive to realize the belief in the absence of self that arises from realization. It should be understood that there are two kinds of abandonment of all phenomena through four ways. What are the four? They are: abandonment of complete entanglement, abandonment of latent tendencies, abandonment of the cause of actions that arise again in existence, and abandonment of such actions that have become afflicted. Among them, it should be understood that these four ways abandon two kinds: abandonment of afflictions and abandonment of things. Among them, the first two abandon afflictions, and the latter two abandon things. In the desire realm, there are three kinds of engagement of actions, and it should be understood that they are entangled with suffering in the beginning, middle, and end. For example, at the time of birth, one is entangled with the suffering of being confined in the womb. After birth, in the stages of childhood, one is entangled with the suffering of many diseases. When the causes of aging and the faculties are fully matured, one is entangled with the suffering of aging and death. Because actions cannot manifest and accomplish, they will cease in the beginning, middle, and end, and it should be understood that the three kinds of suffering will cease. There are three, and for the sake of abandoning them, the noble Shravakas strive. For example, from the perspective of past time, when one renounces the world from home to homelessness, seeing the faults of that very thing and abandoning desires, those will later become the cause of taking them up again, and from the perspective of future time
