I will not change like that, I will not become like that, thinking thus. That will be completely liberated from the suffering upon suffering, and will also completely transcend the universal union that is in accordance with the final part. By meditating on that very path, one will even attain the state of an Arhat. Children, because of relying on the view of the perishable aggregates, will be afraid of completely passing beyond the suffering of formations and change, and of completely passing beyond the higher universal union, thinking that they will become without self, they will be afraid of what should not be feared. If even desire is not generated, how can one think of abandoning? That is also because of two reasons why one should not be afraid, namely, that mere mind will become completely afflicted by entering into the four abodes of consciousness, and that mere mind will not become completely unafflicted by not entering in order to abandon the four abodes of consciousness. The bases are four: form, feeling, perception, and formations. The objects of grasping are four: desire for sensual pleasures, vows, asceticism, and the desire and attachment to the assertion of self. The objects are two: what is aimed at and by what it is aimed at. Consciousnesses are six: eye consciousness and so on. The abodes of consciousness are two: the abode of affliction

It is from the aspect of abiding in the state of abiding. Furthermore, there are three: clinging to the future time, focusing on the past time, and abiding in the present time. Furthermore, there are three: from the aspect of existence that causes rebirth, clinging to rebirth; from the aspect of manifestly delighting in this and that, focusing on the future object; and from the aspect of possessing joy and desire, abiding in obtaining the object that has arisen in the present. Furthermore, there are three: from the aspect of the knot of the body of covetousness, clinging to objects that are in accordance with covetousness; from the aspect of the knot of the body of harmful intent, focusing on its object; and from the aspect of the two, namely, moral discipline, asceticism, holding "this is true" as supreme, and the knot of the body, abiding in its object. The intermediate summary is: fruit, cause, and feeling, time, desire, and knot. Being moistened closely by joy, it should be understood as similar to showing the cause of formations as before. The consciousness that has entered in this way should be understood as being connected and related to the two places of birth, that is, between the form and the formless. Among them, the form is the coming and going from the aspect of relying on the intermediate state of existence. The formless is the short period of death and rebirth. Abiding is the state of how long the lifespan of both exists. Abiding should also be known to have three states for people in the desire realm, namely, initially, consciousness being moistened in the womb, and abiding completely in the womb, and arising from the womb. Other categories should also be known in order in the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm. Among them, what the Thus-gone One said, abandoning the path of destruction of consciousness, saying, "I shall posit it as different," what he posits is only different in words, but the meaning is not different, therefore it is only the basis of words. Or, if other wise people explain with reason that the words are different, and later ask what is the difference that you posit, they do not know, or they themselves later know, and when examined properly, the previous ignorance is still ignorance.

Because I understood the words, I thought to myself, "I had previously misunderstood, not understood correctly." The realm of form is the ten realms of form. The realms of feeling, perception, and volition should be understood as six types. Among these, consciousness should be understood as being liberated from afflictions in three situations. That is, because seeing actions as faults leads to being distant and separated from all entanglements; on the ground of seeing, abandoning all latent tendencies of the bonds of externalists; and by relying on the path of cultivation, attaining the ultimate. Among these, externalists speculate about the place of rebirth in various ways, such as being reborn as the Great Lord, the son of the desireless, the Lord of Hosts, and so on. Because they desire these, it is the bodily bond of covetousness; because they hate doctrines that disagree with their own views, it is the bodily bond of malice. They make wrong aspirations, abide in pure conduct, and do not incline towards the Dharma that is pleasing to those who practice like Brahma. Therefore, it should be known that these cause their higher training in morality to be defiled. The bodily bond of holding morality and asceticism as supreme causes the higher training in mind to be defiled. The bodily bond of holding onto the belief that "this is true" as supreme causes the higher training in wisdom to be defiled. These four dharmas cause the mind to be bound to things belonging to the body of form and the body of name, as well as the objects of focus and abiding. Therefore, it is called the bodily bond. These are also the objects of the mind, discriminated by the mind, corresponding to the mind, becoming latent tendencies in the mind, and defiling the mind. Therefore, they are called related to the mind. By abandoning these, the object that the afflictions focus on is cut off, but not the object that is focused upon.
