Because of being completely ignorant of ignorance, or clinging to the body alone as self, or to the formless, or to the combination of both as self. Because those who cling to self think that I will become selfless, so their minds do not enter nirvana, but observe in a pleasing manner, because of complete despair, the mind completely turns back. Those who understand that these dharmas that turn back from that are merely stopping suffering, the mind will not turn back, and also observe it peacefully, if that is a learner, then he himself will completely attain nirvana, because in order to generate the path, he will not completely seek teachings and subsequent instructions from others. If that is a non-learner, then he himself will also completely attain nirvana, but he will not completely seek the cessation of afflictions, because the formations arising from the previous cause cease on their own, so it is merely complete nirvana. Summary: Cause and benefit, knowing both, the five states of childhood, the difference between the two views, and the teachings therein. These two are the common and the common cause of formations. Among them, the common one is that joy is the previous cause, because that joy moistens the body in a way that does not match the place of birth, thereby arising in that place of birth. Although all afflictions are also the cause of arising in that place of birth, if joy arises in that place of birth, there is no thought that does not match the arising. That also shows that it is only form, if it arises from the previous cause, it does not depend on other causes, because it is very related. Among them, the non-common cause is pleasure and pain, and neither pain nor pleasure, becoming the middle touch, is the mind-born of feelings and so on. The six consciousnesses are the name of the mind that has just ceased and has, and also the ten forms, because those born from other previous causes are the cause of each moment.

Because I am born dependent on others. For the Arhat whose mind is utterly liberated and whose wisdom vision is utterly pure, it should be known that there are four benefits that are not shared with outsiders. Namely: constantly abiding as a cause and walking, abiding without characteristics while dwelling, the cessation of actions arising from previous causes by their own nature, and because the continuum of actions that are reborn is truly destroyed, there is no rebirth in the future. There are also three stages to the perfect accomplishment of these four benefits. Namely: relying on the wisdom vision of learning and gaining renunciation, from not having manifest joy in actions, to abiding without manifest attachment; detachment preceded by renunciation; mind utterly liberated preceded by detachment; after that, such a mind liberated, because of the constant abiding as a cause and walking, it will not change even if it arises, it will not change even if it does not agree, and for the characteristics of abiding and dwelling, all are not taken to mind, and taken to mind is the realm of the signless. Because of abiding in the signless, if all the views that obstruct it have already been abandoned, how could it become an obstructer? Those two, cause and walking and dwelling, will no longer learn, and when the measure of life is exhausted, one will completely be liberated from samsara by oneself, and will completely be liberated from samsara, because his birth and existence have previously been exhausted, so all future actions will not manifest accomplishment. It should be known that all the views arising from the root of the view of the destructible aggregate are established separately in three parts. Namely: those related to the previous extreme, those related to the future extreme, and those related to the previous extreme and the future extreme. Among them, those related to the previous extreme are like some people here thinking: Did I arise in the previous time? Or did I not arise? Who did I become? What did I become? For those related to the future extreme, will I in the future...

Will it happen at that time, or will it not happen? Who will it become? How will it become? Thinking like this. Those who have the past and future extremes think, what will I become? How will it become? Where does this sentient being come from? Where will it go after dying and transmigrating from here? Thinking like this. Furthermore, these non-Buddhists have sixty-two views arising from the root of looking at the aggregation of decay. What are they? They are: four of those who speak of permanence, four of those who hold to permanence in part, two of those who speak of no cause, four of those who perceive with or without limits, four of the non-distracted gods, these eighteen views are those who speak of self by contemplating the past extreme. Among them, there are sixteen who have views of existence and speak of having perception, eight who speak of having no perception, eight who speak of neither having nor not having perception, seven who speak of annihilation, five who speak of nirvana in this life, these forty-four views are those who speak of self by contemplating the future extreme. These views of those who contemplate the future extreme, when summarized, become five: those who speak of having perception, those who speak of having no perception, those who speak of neither having nor not having perception, those who speak of annihilation, and those who speak of nirvana in this life. These five can also be summarized into three: those who speak of permanence, those who speak of annihilation, and those who speak of nirvana in this life. Therefore, all these views are separately established by six kinds of causes. What are they? They are: cause, teaching, relying on meditation, relying on time and view, and place of birth. Among them, the cause of everything is the view of the aggregation of decay. The teaching is hearing the speaker of views, not the supreme Dharma, but hearing whatever is heard randomly, like a container holding things. Relying on meditation is relying on meditation, gaining conviction by having faith in what was previously heard. That meditation is also first
