Conducting oneself in accordance with the teachings, speaking clearly, and gazing upon the face of the person to whom one wishes to teach the Dharma with the demeanor of an elephant. If a Shravaka commits acts of transgression, they dwell in three states of shame, becoming a punishment to the teacher, namely: arising from the realization of one's own transgression, arising from displeasing the teacher, and being ashamed in a state of falling into decline because one's behavior is not tamed and one has failed to please the teacher. The teacher thoroughly rebukes the transgressions of the Shravakas in three ways, namely: admitting to a bad livelihood, being discontented, and proving that the intention of one's livelihood is not in accordance. The practice of the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, etc., should be understood to have six faults in all aspects, namely: faults of conduct, faults of intention, faults of action, faults of knowledge, faults of discrimination, and faults of basis. Among these, attachment arises from the entanglement of desire, and hatred arises from the entanglement of anger, which are faults of conduct. Intense desire and intense anger lead to shamelessness, and shamelessness leads to acceptance, which is a fault of intention, the intention of attachment being truly inferior. Similarly, the intention of hatred is also inferior. Among these, the fault of action is either not being diligent or being lax in diligence. Among these, the fault of knowledge is forgetting the wisdom arising from hearing and thinking, and the mind not abiding in mindfulness, and not being able to abide in equanimity with the wisdom arising from meditation. Among these, the fault of discrimination is repeatedly discriminating sinful and unwholesome discriminations that are in accordance with householders, causing the mind to be confused by this Dharma and Vinaya. Among these, the fault of basis is that its basis is not truly established by the cause of previous lives, and by the cause of not being truly established, it possesses small ordinary faith, little respect for the precepts, little mindfulness, and possesses small ordinary innate wisdom. Entering the teachings will be perversely practiced in four ways, namely: with a dull mind.

Impure intention means: looking for opportunities to steal the Dharma; for the sake of food, drink, clothing, and livelihood; being compelled by kings and thieves; being tormented by debt and fear. Such wrong practice is also deceived by two kinds of deception: one is being deceived by householders who are negligent in their own affairs; the other is being deceived by renunciates who are negligent in their own affairs. There are also two causes for wrong practice: namely, bad conceptualization of the three objects, and bad clinging that precedes it. The three objects should be understood as before, namely, clinging to them as signs and appearances with bad clinging. After that, one engages in much recollection and contemplation of the Dharma that corresponds to it. Regarding the abandonment of the cause of wrong practice, it should be known that there are only two antidotes: in order to abandon conceptualization, the mind of those who maintain mindfulness well abides through the two, non-inversion and non-interruption. In order to abandon clinging, one cultivates samadhi with a signless mind. The cultivation of the antidote is only accomplished by generating a strong desire to cultivate the antidote; it is not accomplished without a strong desire. That strong desire also arises from two causes: namely, the antidote itself has a great result, and it is uncommon with outsiders. Among them, the great result is: when one becomes accustomed to the samadhi of the signless mind, one finds the door to the nectar of the two realms, namely, the realm of abandonment and the realm of detachment from desire, including that with remainder and that without remainder. Near the place where one abides, there are two kinds of nirvana, but one has not yet completely attained everything in every way. Among them, the uncommon thing is that outsiders do not have signless samadhi, but Buddhists do. Why? Because they impute to what is objectified, and they do not see it for even a moment; and they conceptualize what is not objectified, creating all through the view of self.
