One will gain complete faith. Relying on that, one initiates diligence. Relying on that, one establishes mindfulness on objects such as the body. Relying on that, one makes the mind single-pointed on the object of the mind. Relying on that, one fully knows as it is and sees as it is, and by that alone, one goes to the ultimate end. Therefore, from the beginning, there is a lack of wisdom, and in the end, there is also a lack of wisdom, so it is called the faculty of wisdom is the chief. Starting from the enlightenment of the Tathagatas, from faith to wisdom, and even whatever worldly attainments there are, whoever does not have these, one should know that they are situated in the camp of non-Buddhists and ordinary beings outside of this. Whoever has worldly attainments but does not have transcendental attainments, then they are situated in the camp of ordinary beings here, but they are not non-Buddhists. Whoever has transcendental attainments, one should know that in all of everything, they are definitely not situated in the camp of ordinary beings. Summary: Individual investigation and wisdom, as well as the country together with the king, Arhats and learners, and being upright is also not the last. In short, if one sees faults in misconduct in this life and future lives, and thereby individually investigates, turning away from misconduct and cultivating good conduct, that is the power of individual investigation. That power accomplishes two benefits, namely, going to a good rebirth and attaining complete nirvana in this life. Mindfulness closely established, gathered by the power of cultivation, performs the function of the basis of cultivation. Relying on that, whatever cultivation of the dharmas that are in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment, such as mindfulness closely established, one should know that is the power of cultivation. The three places of shame act as helpers to the power of individual investigation, namely, in the world, there are the Shravakas of the Bhagavan, and gods with clairvoyance who greatly rejoice in the teachings, thinking that they will despise me, that is dwelling on others, it is the first place. Due to the cause of universal conduct without the arising of conditions, oneself

Thinking that I will be degraded is the second reason. In the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, there is brahmacharya, thinking that this Dharma will hinder brahmacharya is the third reason. Know that these three reasons for shame arise from three powers: the power of the world, the power of self, and the power of Dharma. Know that through the means of accomplishing self-benefit and accomplishing the benefit of others, four powers can be distinguished: wisdom, diligence, faultlessness, and the power of gathering. Among them, attaining Nirvana in this life is also self-benefit, and going to higher realms is also self-benefit. Among them, in the first aspect of self-benefit, two powers, wisdom and diligence, can be distinguished, and know that both of these are diligence with skillful means. In the other aspect of self-benefit, the power of faultlessness can be distinguished, and through these three powers, all self-benefit is completely fulfilled. For those who wish to benefit others, there is the benefit of others, and through this means, the powers of gathering can be distinguished, and know that the objects of gathering are like those that arise from the Bodhisattva grounds. Know that through the means of including the kingdom with its king, men, women, boys, children and wise people, householders and renunciates, ten powers can be distinguished, just as it is said in the sutras that kings have the power of sovereignty, and so on. An Arhat endowed with eight powers is one who has completely exhausted and experienced attachment, hatred, and ignorance without exception, and does not commit any evil, but relies on virtue. Because the mind is focused on solitude, renunciation, and Nirvana, one does not incline towards rebirth in samsara. Because one does not incline towards rebirth, therefore, because of this reason, one does not commit sinful actions. Because one sees desire as a pit of embers, one does not incline towards desire. Because one does not incline towards desire, therefore, because of this reason, one does not commit evil. Through these two powers, one does not commit any evil.
