Do. In short, the legs of magical power should be understood as being cultivated through five causes: abandoning the near afflictions that are in accordance with the side of calm abiding; abandoning the near afflictions that are in accordance with the side of special insight; the mind desiring to be close to the object that is in accordance with the side of special insight; the mind binding itself to the object that is in accordance with the side of calm abiding; and the mind binding itself to the object that is in accordance with the side of both of them. Among these, the near afflictions that are in accordance with the side of calm abiding are things like desire that is accompanied by laziness, and accompanied by drowsiness and sleep. Desire that is accompanied by laziness, etc., should be understood as being the basis of drowsiness and sleep, etc. Among these, desire that is accompanied by excitement, etc., and those who are distracted by the qualities of desire, should be understood as being the near afflictions that are in accordance with the side of special insight. Those who are accompanied by excitement should be understood as being the basis of those who are accompanied by distraction. Among these, desire that is accompanied by laziness, etc., will cause one to abide in a state that is completely defiled in accordance with the side of calm abiding, but one will not fall away from calm abiding in any way at all. Those who are accompanied by drowsiness and sleep will also abide in a state that is completely defiled, and will also fall away from calm abiding. Desire that is accompanied by excitement, etc., will cause one to abide in a state that is completely defiled in relation to special insight, but one will not fall away from special insight in any way at all. Those who are accompanied by distraction will also abide in a state that is completely defiled, and will also fall away from special insight. Among these, the object that is in accordance with the side of special insight is to understand the later and earlier, and that too is like before, and should be understood as it appears in the Hearer's Ground. That which is in accordance with the side of calm abiding is to understand above and below, and should be understood as before. The object that is in accordance with the side of both of them is to understand appearance, and is to cultivate the mind that possesses appearance, which acts on the side of both of them. If it is not that, then like this, desire, etc., accompanied by laziness

Those who are called lazy, there is no such thing as diligence being equal to laziness. However, the relaxed diligence that exists in the continuum, which has not been properly initiated, is called corresponding to laziness. Therefore, in order to desire samadhi, in order to achieve samadhi manifestly, it should be known that one should practice in all aspects in five ways. For the five abodes of liberation, it should be known that there are four kinds of samadhi arising from aspiration etc., as appropriate. Among them, in order to make the monk realize the pure intention, wanting to know the one who has strong aspiration, listening respectfully to the Dharma from the Tathagata or the Shravaka of the Tathagata, after equality, realizing samadhi, it should be known that this is the samadhi arising from aspiration. How the Dharma is heard and how it is fully understood, one focuses especially, initiates great diligence, correctly proclaims it to others, and recites it loudly. After that, the samadhi arising from that cause is called the samadhi arising from the power of diligence. One keeps well in mind and contemplates the good signs of samadhi, from various aversions etc. up to the white bone contemplation, the samadhi arising in relation to this is the samadhi arising from the power of mind. How the Dharma is heard and how it is fully understood, one dwells alone in a solitary place, thinking, measuring and fully examining, the arising of samadhi from that cause, that is called the samadhi of investigation. Furthermore, samadhi will also arise from four doors. As before, the door of listening to the excellent Dharma arising from aspiration from others, and relying solely on the advice and subsequent teachings of others, constantly practicing respectfully, not entering into the actual samadhi, from the door of advice for entering that samadhi, the door of joy arising in the mind entering the actual samadhi, from higher to higher samadhi increasing, or much learning becoming the basis of much learning, one properly and completely examines those dharmas, examines.
