Experiencing a feeling of discomfort, thus, through the power of meditation, latent tendencies are abandoned. Among these, attachment, hatred, and delusion, etc., will lead to encountering suffering such as birth in future lives, as well as the karma of this life being defiled by afflictions, as well as rejoicing in objects of future afflictions, as well as taking hold of things that have passed, and being particularly attached to the present. Among these, quarreling is hating in the mind, disputing is hating in speech, and harming is causing harm through the three doors (body, speech, and mind). Seeing impermanence, etc., is like the renunciation of the Hearers. Because the opposing factors of the meditation on ugliness, love, and compassion, namely, attachment to desirable objects, harmful intent, and harming, have not been abandoned, whatever is in that state, corresponding to it, like a seed of bad rebirth, will arise, and is accordingly called the realm of attachment, harmful intent, and harming. If this exists, then the objects corresponding to attachment, harmful intent, and harming will also manifest, and if one does not properly attend to those three objects, then the thought of grasping the signs and characteristics of improper attention will arise. From the arising and acceptance of that, one should understand that it will become the two faults of this life and future lives. Among these, what is acceptance, what is the fault of this life, and what is the fault of future lives? If, following the arising thought, like before, one generates desire, investigation, craving, and seeking similar to it, then this is accepting those thoughts. When seeking, one will create negative actions towards sentient beings in the three realms, and therefore, the arising of this life will become the cause of suffering and unpleasantness, therefore it is accompanied by suffering. Even if it is not a cause, it is merely manifest, therefore it is accompanied by deprivation. Accompanied by suffering and accompanied by deprivation, these are also two conditions.

It is due to the transformation of karma, caused by the hands of others, sticks, staffs, weapons, and harsh words, therefore it is called harmful. It is due to the internal afflictions, therefore it is called complete suffering, which is the fault of this life. Just because of that reason, it will lead to being born in the lower realms, which is the fault of the next life. If one accepts the precepts, then his body is like a house of dry reeds, like the creatures living in it, whatever good Dharma there is, it cannot be burned by the fire of his wrong views, and that person cannot kill them either. Therefore, one should know that the good Dharma, like creatures, will be burned. The opposite of this is the benefit of not accepting, and one should know that the good Dharma will not completely disappear. The opposite of this is the idea of renunciation, harmlessness, and non-violence, which should be understood as it is. Therefore, the wisdom arising from listening, thinking, and meditating will not accept the dark side, but will accept the light side. One should know that without these three wisdoms, one will accept the dark side and will not accept the light side. These two are the wonderful and miraculous Dharma of the Tathagatas, that is, they teach that all Dharmas are without self, and do not despise the actions of sentient beings themselves, as well as the actions of others. In short, sentient beings can be summarized into two types: householders and renunciants. For householders, the first effort is for the sake of their enjoyment, which is called the realm of diligence. Even when it has not been obtained, there is already a cause like an obstacle to diligence, but whatever joy there is in the mind, that is called the realm of their own power. Even if it has been obtained, it will not be hindered by harm such as flies, mosquitoes, leeches, etc., which is called the realm of joy. These realms do not move from their own place to other places.

O! It should be known that wandering in samsara is the realm of renunciation. Those sentient beings who constantly and respectfully practice both, are the realm of irreversible courage. For those who wish to renounce, generating determination for the sake of renunciation is the realm of diligence. Starting from the aspect of renunciation, in order to obtain vast virtuous Dharma, one should not be lazy, it is the realm of strength. Not being harmed by various harmful sufferings, as well as the sufferings arising from initiating diligence, and the sufferings arising from imbalance of elements, etc., is the realm of joy. Not being content with inferior (living), is the realm of renunciation. Constantly and respectfully practicing throughout one's life is the realm of courage. All of these should be known as they are, that is, knowing one's own realm and various realms are merely realms. These two are the differences between realms, what are the two? That is, the difference of other's kind and the difference of one's own kind. Among them, the difference of other's kind is that the eye realm is other, the form realm is also other, the eye consciousness realm is also other, similarly, it is the same up to the mind consciousness realm. Among them, the difference of one's own kind is that relying on the feeling realm itself of pleasure, pain, and neither pleasure nor pain, all three kinds of feelings will also arise. It should be known that the three sets of realms and the two realms of renunciation are established by way of four causes, what are the four? That is, external non-renunciation and renunciation, internal non-renunciation and renunciation, constant non-renunciation and renunciation, and absence of manifest pride. Among them, the desire realm is established by relying on attachment to the five external objects of desire. For the sake of renunciation, it is the first dhyana of the form realm. For the sake of renunciation of investigation, joy, and pleasure, it is the higher dhyanas. Renunciation from form and obstructive and dissimilar perceptions.
