Again, there are only two ways: to contemplate emptiness or selflessness in relation to all conditioned phenomena. In this regard, by first becoming familiar with the faults and the correct meaning of perception, later, discordant perceptions will also correctly abide. The result has been explained earlier, and the cause has been explained later. The four types of self-view act as the cause for generating the conceit of "I am," namely: the conceptually constructed one, which refers to those held by non-Buddhist extremists; the co-emergent one, which even wild animals and birds possess; the one that focuses on one's own basis, which refers to what is present in one's own body; and the one that focuses on another's basis, which refers to what is present in another's body. If, relying on the conceptually constructed self-view, one generates the conceit of "I am," then such a person, seeing both their own body and another's body as self, generates it based on the two types of self-view. For example, relying on the face, an image arises on the surface of a perfectly clear mirror, and relying on the image, one perceives one's own place as inferior, middling, or superior. Similarly, due to negative conceptualization, something like a face arises from the cause of the self-view that exists in one's own place, and something like an image arises that focuses on another's place. From that cause, the conceit of "I am" arises, thinking, "I am greater than others," "I am equal to others," or "I am smaller than others." If it arises from the cause of the co-emergent self-view, then in that case, the difference in the analogy should be understood. For example, it is like a person with eyes looking at their eyes and ears in clear water contained in a vessel. The remaining ones should be understood as before. The view of the aggregates as a self, in all its aspects, can only be abandoned through the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, and not by any other means. Therefore, the beneficial answer of the Tathagatas and the wise who practice similarly to Brahma can only be shown by a Shravaka or one who practices similarly to Brahma, or complete liberation from suffering can only be attained by one who practices similarly to Brahma, and only in one way can an answer be obtained, not in any other.

It is not so. If one enters that path for the sake of benefiting others, then in that case, he completely fulfills their wishes, and in return, he bestows benefit. It is because the three characteristics of conditioned phenomena have ceased. It is called the realm of nirvana without remainder, that is to say, things that arise, as well as things that are destroyed by their nature, and things that are free from afflictions. Among them, it is manifestly assembled by the previous karma and afflictions of rebirth, and it is manifestly projected by the previous aspiration, so it arises now. Even after arising in this way, it does not remain permanent because it is destroyed by its nature. Because all afflictions have been completely abandoned, it is free from afflictions, because it ceases now and will not be born again later. Therefore, because the three characteristics of conditioned phenomena cease, it is called cessation, but if any one of the characteristics is not complete, it cannot be established as cessation. It should be understood that the four seals of dharma are to be distinguished through the three doors of liberation. That is to say, emptiness, as well as wishlessness, and signlessness. Among them, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent. All conditioned phenomena are suffering, these two are distinguished as the first and second seals of dharma through the door of wishlessness. All dharmas are without self, this is distinguished as the third seal through the door of emptiness. Nirvana is peace, this is distinguished as the fourth seal through the door of signlessness. It should be understood that the desire for conditioned phenomena that arises from the power of the dharma seals is of two kinds, namely, having faith and having contemplation. Among them, by the desire with faith, the four dharma seals desire all conditioned phenomena, all conditioned phenomena are peaceful, when that desire disappears and becomes hidden, when one contemplates from the depths of one's heart, one will turn away from it in four ways, because one does not see the benefit and does not enter, because one does not believe that one can obtain it and does not have faith, because one does not rejoice in that object and does not abide, and because one does not rejoice in that and is not liberated. The opposite of this is the desire through contemplation.
