Because of not paying attention, for those evils and goods that are not completely established, they measure others and themselves by distinguishing between evils and goods. Whatever arises as arrogance, thinking "I am great," is the first characteristic of a child. Just as with greatness, equality and smallness are also the same, and should be combined as before. The three that are the opposite of this should be known as the characteristics of the wise among the wise. The eye of the noble wisdom should be known to become completely pure in two ways: because it is free from the pervasive entanglement of the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, it is without dust; because it is free from its latent tendencies, it is without stain. Furthermore, at the time of realization, when engaging in attention, coarse arrogance arises alternately, and by fully knowing the object of its grasping as equal, it can be abandoned, and having abandoned it, it is without dust. Because all the latent tendencies of the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing have been abandoned, it is without stain. By means of being without dust and without stain, at the moment of obtaining the Dharma eye for all phenomena, it should be known that ten benefits will arise. What are the ten? Because of seeing the four noble truths well, it is called seeing the Dharma. Because of obtaining any of the fruits of a renunciate, it is called obtaining the Dharma. It should be known that they can be obtained through themselves. My sentient beings in the hell realms, as well as animals and hungry ghosts, will be exhausted. Starting from "I have entered the stream," combine extensively. Thus, it is called knowing the Dharma. Because of gaining faith after knowing, one knows the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha as they truly are, therefore it is called reaching the depths of the Dharma. For what I have obtained, there is no doubt, and for what others have obtained, there is no uncertainty. When speaking words that accord with the noble truths, one does not rely on others, does not look at the faces of others, nor does one speculate on their expressions. All the opponents and debaters, etc., will not be able to take anything away from this Dharma and discipline. There is also no fear in expressing the knowledge that one has obtained. Through both correct language and the cause of ultimate meaning, one can also enter into the teachings.

It is so. These nine kinds of wisdom are to fully understand all conditioned phenomena and to be able to truly transcend them. That is to say, understanding the arising of conditioned phenomena, understanding their cessation, understanding the cause of all defilements, understanding the cause of purification, understanding purification, understanding suffering, understanding the origin of suffering, understanding the cessation of suffering, and understanding the path. Among them, understanding arising, in short, refers to the wisdom that when three causes arise, one thinks that all conditioned phenomena will arise. These three causes are: the arising of pleasure, the arising of contact, and the arising of name and form. Form and feeling, etc., and consciousness, should also be combined accordingly. When these three causes cease, these three phenomena will also cease, hence it is called understanding cessation. Understanding the cause of all defilements, understanding the cause of purification, and understanding purification should be understood as previously explained in the chapters on faults, merits, and renunciation. As for understanding the Four Noble Truths such as suffering, it should also be understood in the same way as before, in the manner of distinguishing the truths. Among them, the first five wisdoms are universally shown in the state of each being, and from this, the wisdom of the latter four truths can be obtained. Having obtained these, one can truly and fully understand all conditioned phenomena. If the first five wisdoms are not complete, then there is no opportunity to fully understand the conditioned phenomena through the way of truth. If there is some degree of deficiency, then there is the possibility of obtaining the opportunity through the way of truth. Furthermore, if there is no complete understanding of conditioned phenomena, then even if all defilements are abandoned by the power of previous cultivation, there is no opportunity to truly transcend all conditioned phenomena. Conversely, if there is complete understanding of conditioned phenomena, there is an opportunity to truly transcend all conditioned phenomena. Therefore, these nine wisdoms are called fully understanding conditioned phenomena and being able to truly transcend them. The yogi abides without forgetfulness in all conditioned phenomena through three ways. What are these three ways? For past conditioned phenomena, one fully knows their impermanence as it is. For present conditioned phenomena, one knows that they have the nature of decay. For future conditioned phenomena, one truly knows their arising and decay.
