The wise extensively explain the realm of meditation and the Tathagata, starting from the idea that there is no existence after death, and so on. Those are skilled in conventional truth and ultimate truth, but all of them should not be contemplated with two causes, because it is not an object of contemplation, and there is no basis either. To seek with the mind a basis that is not an object of contemplation, or to seek without basis in all of everything, one will not attain it, but only cause the mind to be completely confused. In this regard, if an improper thought enters the mind, then one in a hundred will have the power of cause, generating renunciation or a mind that corresponds to renunciation, and focusing on the truth, even if one is completely accustomed to it inwardly, one will still see that as a fault and recognize it as untrue. In that case, thinking about the world is meaningless. Wrong thoughts should be understood as thoughts of desire and so on. In this regard, wrong speech should be understood as six types: inverted speech, meaningless speech, speech that creates sin, speech that distinguishes the good and bad of others, speech that distinguishes means of livelihood, and speech that is attached to food, which is called negligence. In order to abandon negligence, the Tathagata himself earnestly exhorts those who have great merit, in order to make them quickly abandon negligence. The Shravakas of the Blessed One, having thus abandoned the four obstacles that hinder the realization of the truth, explain the noble truths in three ways: with the wisdom arising from hearing, from the perspective of words; with the wisdom arising from thinking, from the perspective of meaning; with the wisdom arising from meditation, from the perspective of realization. Among them, with the wisdom arising from hearing, just as it is heard, 'This is the noble truth of suffering,' and so on, they explain extensively. With the wisdom arising from thinking, from the perspective of meaning, they explain, thinking, 'This truth belongs to the noble ones, therefore it is a noble truth.' In this regard, the nature of reality is also suchness.

It is true in reality, and it is also true from the perspective of faith, because believing in that sole meaning is true. For children, it is only true from the perspective of the nature of phenomena, but not from the perspective of faith. For the noble ones, it is true from both perspectives, therefore this is called the truth of the noble ones. Through the wisdom arising from meditation, from obtaining the knowledge of the truth directly, one gains faith from knowing. Therefore, there is no doubt about the truths and the Three Jewels, because knowing the truth and the faith arising from knowing are interdependent, and where one is, the other is also there. For those ascetics and Brahmins who are separated from knowing the truth and do not possess the realization of the truths, it should be known that there are four faults. What are the four? Being delighted in the actions arising from the root of being born in the lower realms of suffering, and having done the deeds corresponding to it, falling into the abyss of being born in those suffering realms; furthermore, among the gods and humans who enjoy in the desire realm, being delighted in those arising from the root of birth tormented by many afflictions, and having done the deeds corresponding to it, being born there and tormented by great suffering of birth; furthermore, in the complete entanglement of the darkness of ignorance, similar to the form and formless realms, just as before, from the actions arising from the root of birth, one will also fall into the darkness of increasing birth; furthermore, one will also decline from the enjoyment of objects, and also decline from the path of liberation, just like falling into the three paths of the world in the intermediate state, falling into such darkness of views, that is, falling into the view of permanence, the view of annihilation, or thinking that one can be liberated in this life, because of that cause and that condition, one will fall into the darkness of birth in the three realms, because being obscured by the darkness of ignorance, the view of holding onto self is wrong, and one does not see it as it truly is. It should be known that, just as before, for abandonment that is fully possessed of the five branches, the truths will appear as they truly are.
