Those who understand the true meaning and whose bodies and minds are thoroughly subdued will realize the truth. Among them, the suffering of sentient beings born in hell is of two kinds: the suffering of being burned by fire and the suffering of being harmed. Both of these, and the unbearable suffering of many lifetimes, are also obtained because of not knowing the truth. By knowing the truth, one will truly be liberated. If those who know the truth encounter the threat of being burned by fire or severely harmed, then liberation can be obtained by merely losing one body in this life. Even if a hundred bodies are lost, if the mind feels joy, it should be practiced, let alone losing one body? To realize the truth, it must be recognized that there are four obstacles: lack of faith, arrogance, reliance on other times, and negligence. Among them, lack of faith means not believing in the realization of the truth, not believing in the diligent practice of the Sangha, and not believing in the enlightenment of the Buddhas. In order to eliminate the first kind of lack of faith, the Blessed One himself, taking the manifestation of realizing the truth as an example, said to the Shravakas: "I have attained the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment in order to realize the four noble truths." In order to eliminate the second kind of lack of faith, it is said: "Because you and I have not realized those truths, we have been wandering in samsara for a long time. Now, by properly attending to these truths, you and I will understand with the correct view, and having understood, because the cause is exhausted, the cycle of birth is completely extinguished. Because it is the last time to take a body, there will be no more rebirths now." Among them, the third kind of lack of faith is to regard the enlightenment of the Buddhas in this way: If the Shramana Gautama is omniscient, why does he ask questions? Some answer, some do not answer. In order to eliminate this lack of faith, holding Shawa tree leaves in his hand, on the ground...

It is shown by example, saying, "Although I have awakened many dharmas, those that do not accord with meaning are many, and those that accord with meaning are few, so I have taught little to others." Therefore, it should be understood that not answering is not because of not knowing, but because it does not accord with meaning. Regarding the direct realization of truth, in order to abandon the pride of those with manifest pride, it is said, "It is very difficult for an arrow to strike the shaft of another arrow, and for a person standing far away to hit the tip of a hair split into a hundred pieces with the tip of another hair, because it is extremely subtle." Therefore, realizing the truth is extremely difficult. Why is that? Like this, the mind that grasps, realizes that which is grasped by the very act of grasping. It is because one must focus solely on equality, and by generating the knowledge of the one who focuses, one will realize the truth. Therefore, that is extremely subtle and extremely difficult, but shooting one arrow with another, or hitting one hair tip with another is not like that. Regarding looking to other times and what should be abandoned, the Bhagavan said, "It is rare to become a human from a state of wrong-doing." The example of the blind turtle was also shown. What is carelessness? In short, it is wrong mind, thought, and speech. Thinking about things that should not be thought about is to be known as wrong mind. Thinking about oneself is to expand from thinking 'Did I exist or not exist in the past?' to 'in the future.' Doubting inwardly, 'From what will I become what? Where did this sentient being come from, and where will they go after dying and transmigrating from here?' Thinking about the world is to expand from 'The world is permanent,' and similarly, to expand from 'The world has an end.' Thinking about sentient beings is to expand from 'Life is also that, and the body is also this.' Thinking about the karmic ripening of sentient beings is to expand from 'That does, that experiences.'
