No! These two are the teachings that cause doubt when diligently examining the arising of dependent origination. What are the two? They are accepting the doctrine of causelessness and accepting the doctrine of dissimilar causes. Among these, those who accept the doctrine of causelessness, if they have never seen the cause of those things, how can causeless things arise? Thus, doubt will arise. Those who accept the doctrine of dissimilar causes will also only give rise to doubt, thinking, 'How can things arise from unsuitable and unreasonable causes?' Noble disciples who are endowed with learning abandon both kinds of false speech and contemplate entering into what is correct. Therefore, when one focuses on what is correct as correct, one becomes extremely certain and without doubt. Wherever it is said, 'Noble disciples who are endowed with learning,' there it should be understood as referring to ordinary beings. Wherever only 'noble disciples' are mentioned, there it should be understood as referring to those who have seen the truth. These three types of individuals in this Dharma are those who abide in suffering and displeasure. What are the three? For example, some here in this well-spoken Dharma-Vinaya desire to attain liberation and enter into liberation. They are those who have gone forth, and having gone forth in that way, they are content with merely morality and asceticism, and they abide without studying higher mind and higher wisdom from time to time. They have declined even from the enjoyments of their former household life, and they have not attained the supreme accomplishment and the bliss of Nirvana. Abiding on the intermediate path, they abide in suffering and displeasure. Furthermore, some here do not hold that mere morality and asceticism are sufficient, but they have not yet truly transcended the state of ordinary beings. Because they have not truly transcended the state of ordinary beings, they rely on others for the Dharma, thinking, 'Alas! Have these beings known what is to be known and seen what is to be seen?' Thus, they look to the faces of others and contemplate on the faces of others, and they listen to the Dharma from those others and seek instructions and guidance. They themselves are also full of hesitation and doubt.

The second person in this state is suffering and unhappy. Furthermore, if some people here see the four trainings, but they live carelessly, they have no chance to be completely liberated from suffering in this life, because they completely grasp the cause for the manifestation of the next life, so they remain with the next life, as if in suffering and unhappiness. In contrast to these three types of people, there is also one person who dwells in happiness, and they must be the Arhats who dwell in happiness, there are three of them. In summary: the cessation of existence, the Shramana and the Brahmin, and the knowledge of experience, entering, coming and going, the appearance of the Buddha's teachings is the last. Those who see the four trainings do not go by faith in others, but think that if existence ceases, they will be liberated from suffering in peace, they see this with their own eyes of noble wisdom, but they cannot realize it with their bodies. For example, if someone goes to a deep well because they are thirsty, but they do not have a rope and a bucket, even if they see the water with their physical eyes, they cannot touch it with their body. Similarly, the trainees also want to abandon the higher afflictions, even if they see peace with the eyes of wisdom, they cannot realize it with their bodies. Some Shramanas and Brahmins do not completely abandon desire, hatred, and ignorance, and do not obtain the purpose of a Shramana and the purpose of a Brahmin, they think of themselves as Shramanas in the world, and claim to be Shramanas, they think of themselves as Brahmins, and claim to be Brahmins, and the world also thinks so, but they are conventional Shramanas and Brahmins, not ultimate ones, because the ultimate Shramanas and Brahmins do not cling to Shramanas and Brahmins. Why is that? Because they do not understand the completely defiled dharmas, the cause of the completely defiled dharmas, and the cessation and the path to cessation, they do not understand them as they are. Among them, the completely defiled dharmas are like this: the suffering included in aging and death.
