I contemplate that aging and death will occur. Therefore, future aging and death arise from the subtle causes of birth. The aging and death of this life arise from the gross causes of birth. What is without error in this? The two kinds of birth that belong to other places of birth do not cause the fruit of aging and death to ripen. Just as aging and death are, so too should birth, existence, grasping, and existence be understood through these two modes of proper attention. Thus, based on aging and death, the suffering and the origin of suffering that arise in an improper manner are examined through the mode of dependent origination. Among these, the dharmas that accord with the origin of suffering are like the essence. The origin of suffering itself is like oil. The truth of suffering is like burning. An unskilled person is like pouring oil and stirring the essence, and the burning of suffering will also burn for a long time. Conversely, it should be understood that the path and cessation are examined by examining the white side. There are two kinds of people: one who engages in harming himself, pouring oil and stirring the essence in order to sustain the burning of his own suffering that exists in a single continuum; the other person engages in harming himself and a great multitude of others, like preparing wood, grass, and dry cow dung gathered from wrong views arising from hearing, thinking, and meditating, having prioritized non-holy Dharma, in order to make the great heap of suffering fire of himself and others last for a long time. Here, when the Bhagavan became a Bodhisattva, he dwelt at the heart of the Bodhi tree, focusing on aging and death, and through dependent origination, he entered the truth of suffering at the future extreme in an improper manner, attending properly until existence, and also examining the suffering of the future extreme and the origin of the suffering of the future extreme, just so much.

It should not be considered sufficient. Becoming the cause of the arising of the future extreme, for all the present sufferings, it does not arise in sequence, but is contemplated as being encompassed by feeling, contact, the six sense sources, name and form, and consciousness. Among them, the future suffering is what arises later. Its arising is also what arises later, knowing this truly, relying on the future time, one contemplates from where it will arise. The suffering of this life, up to consciousness, is what has arisen and been accomplished from the previous arising. For what has already arisen, it is appropriate to contemplate how it arises. Therefore, the Bodhisattva, seeing the suffering that has already arisen in the present, with a mind possessing the intention to contemplate what will arise later, transforms the mind. From that place, gradually and truly seeing the truth of the arising of the future extreme. And also truly seeing the place of the truth of suffering of the future extreme, the truth of the arising of the future extreme. And again, from consciousness, one enters into sequential arising. Thus, he truly contemplates the suffering and arising of dependent origination, sequential arising, and non-sequential arising. After that, resolving to contemplate the truth of cessation, from old age and death up to ignorance, one enters into non-sequential arising. What is the reason for this? Because, if one asks how the truth of suffering that has already arisen in the present can be completely stopped, it is because one contemplates that if new karma, which arises from the condition of ignorance, is not done, it will cease. Having thus analyzed the three truths, he seeks what is the path by which this truth of cessation can be attained? What is the method? He, as before, by remembering the previous dwelling place, as if manifesting the previous worldly right view, shows the teaching that exhausts the leaks, and he thinks thus: The path that the previous sages have traveled and followed, I have found. This is his worldly intention.

He has examined the four noble truths. He follows that very right view and realizes the truths. When he realizes the complete, unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, he directly understands with the wisdom of learning and non-learning, which is immaculate and extremely pure. He has attained the meaning for which he practiced austerities for three countless eons, and because he wishes to benefit others, for the sake of the world including the gods, he gives and increases the correct understanding of the four noble truths to those who are extremely fortunate. The teachings of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are summarized by three points, what are the three? It is to skillfully explain the laws of dependent origination through the gate of non-agency, and based on that, to accomplish benefiting others and to accomplish benefiting oneself. Among them, to skillfully explain through the gate of non-agency is from the suffering of the later extreme, in a way that the suffering of this life and the previous extreme do not arise in succession, where consciousness arises due to the condition of name and form, and name and form also arise due to the condition of consciousness, like a bundle of reeds, they rely on each other and stay, and in the meantime, all the laws of dependent origination are neither self-made, nor made by others, nor made by both, nor do they arise from no cause, such an explanation is called skillfully explaining through the gate of non-agency. Why is that? Because all conditioned things are impermanent, they do not exist in the former extreme, nor in the latter extreme, and in the middle extreme they only exist for a moment. Actions, agents, and entrances are not found in the ultimate sense, and they are merely imputed on the continuum, this is explaining as it is, therefore it is called skillfully explaining. Furthermore, relying on that skillful explanation, abiding in dependent origination, starting from the truths, teaching the Dharma to others, this is accomplishing benefiting others. Relying on that itself, in order to realize the truths by oneself, practicing the Dharma
