Having recognized this, one enters the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma. Not emphasizing names, sounds, and words, this is the first aspect of the perfection of a Shravaka. Having entered the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma in that way, not being content with meager achievements, but like a wise and virtuous person, attaining the levels to be reached and the Dharma to be heard, this should be recognized as the second aspect of the perfection of a Shravaka. Furthermore, regarding the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, the perfection of the teacher of teachers should be understood through three aspects. The perfection of the Shravaka of Shravakas should also be understood through two aspects. What are the three aspects through which the perfection of the teacher should be understood? Here, the Tathagata initially taught the Middle Way, abandoning the two extremes, to the Shravakas, this is the first aspect of perfection. Furthermore, skillfully guiding those who do not believe and those who have gone astray to enter this teaching, this is the second aspect of perfection. Furthermore, for those who have already entered, gathering them in accordance with the Dharma in four ways, this is the third aspect of the perfection of the teacher. What are the four ways of gathering in accordance with the Dharma? Secretly teaching the appropriate advice for correctly establishing the mind within, and not what is inappropriate; for those who contradict, rebuking them with appropriate and open words of censure, and not what is inappropriate; for the thoughts based on attachment, teaching the inner peace; and always, at the appropriate times, having them listen to the sacred Dharma. Among these, for those who disguise as the sacred Dharma, contradict the conduct, and do not understand the inconsistencies, this is secretly teaching the appropriate advice for correctly establishing the mind within. Recognizing that taming is done by contradicting the truth and rebuking, and acting with a mind that is not completely afflicted, this is openly rebuking in an appropriate way. In the way of correctly ascertaining the truth, for the thoughts that have entered into the enjoyment of desires, seeing the faults, gradually entering the peace of the thoughts based on attachment between the four dhyanas, this is the inner peace. One does not completely exhaust oneself, and always, through the means of causing others to accept.
