That is thoroughly distinguished by the complete purification of Suchness, is of the lineage of Suchness, is of the seed of Suchness, and is truly accomplished from Suchness. Moreover, Suchness cannot be said to be different from or not different from the six sources, because the way it cannot be said has been stated before. Therefore, asking whether the transformation of the basis is different from or not different from the six sources is not proper. If the transformation of the basis did not exist, then only such faults would occur, because for an Arhat, all afflictions would arise completely, and the path would not arise completely, therefore, it should be known that the transformation of the basis exists. The Blessed One, also considering that very transformation of the basis, said: On the nature of the completely imputed, manifest habitual afflictions, manifest habitual existence or non-existence, that is completely purified. Here, those two are the contaminated realm, that very transformation of the basis is, the uncontaminated realm, that nature is pure, unsurpassed nature. Thus he spoke. For example, a butcher or a skilled student of a butcher slaughters a cow with a sharp butcher's knife, then cuts, chops, pounds, and roasts all the internal organs, cuts all the meat, all the bones, and all the tendons, and then covers it with the cowhide, then, it should be known that the cow is neither connected to the cowhide nor unconnected. Similarly, the Arhat's transformation of the basis, with the sword of wisdom, completely cuts off all bonds, fetters, latent tendencies, near afflictions, and all entanglements, and like the cowhide, it cannot be said to be connected to the six sources, nor can it be said to be unconnected. The yogi's grasping of the characteristics of the transformation of the basis should also be known to be superior to the previous grasping, because that is also like Suchness, corresponding to each self-awareness, therefore, one cannot say to others, "I have truly seen this or that characteristic." An Arhat is one with remaining aggregates.

If one abides in the realm of Nirvana, where does the mind abide in order to completely pass into Nirvana without remainder? It is said: Because one does not attend to all signs, one only attends to the realm without signs, and gradually enters into cessation. One ceases the consciousness of entering, and after that, one abandons the position of the Alaya consciousness. Because the Alaya consciousness and the consciousness of entering do not arise without cause, that is the unconditioned realm, the pure and stainless body. To completely pass into Nirvana in that realm, one does not enter into the ranks of the gods, nor is one a Gandharva, nor a Naga, nor a Kinnara, nor an Asura, nor a Yaksha, nor does one enter into the ranks of humans. In short, that does not enter into the ranks of all the realms established as sentient beings in the ten directions, all travelers, all places of birth, all births, all who have obtained bodies, all noble lineages, and all those who are in all the lands. Because of this, this realm is without elaboration, because it is in accordance with the self-awareness of each of the accomplished ones. What is the difference between the Arhat's realm of Nirvana with remainder and the complete Nirvana in the realm of Nirvana without remainder? It is said: Abiding in the one with remainder is acknowledging number, and abiding in the one without remainder is not acknowledging number. Abiding in the one with remainder is connected with suffering, and abiding in the one without remainder is without suffering. The transformation of the abode of one abiding in the one with remainder is related to the six sense bases, and the transformation of the abode of one abiding in the one without remainder is not unrelated to the six sense bases. If the transformation of the abode of one who has completely passed into Nirvana in the realm of Nirvana without remainder is unrelated to the six sense bases, then how can it be without the abode of the six sense bases...
