It is not like the transformation of the earth. A Bodhisattva is like a lotus because he is not attached to all worldly things and is not stained by anger. Although it is so, it is not like a lotus that cannot grow if it is cut from the stem. A Bodhisattva, although he has destroyed the afflictions, still takes birth in samsara again because he increases the power of the roots of virtue, so he is also like a lush tree whose roots have not been damaged. Although it is so, it is not like a lush tree whose roots will eventually be completely destroyed. A Bodhisattva completely dedicates the roots of virtue to Nirvana and Great Bodhi, so he is also like a river flowing into the ocean. Although it is so, it is not like a river flowing into the ocean and becoming the ocean itself. A Bodhisattva rejoices in the roots of virtue that rely on Nirvana and Great Bodhi, so he is also like the gods who dwell on Mount Meru. Although it is so, it is not like the gods who dwell on Mount Meru who mostly love their own actions without restraint. Because he is completely seized by skillful means and wisdom, and accomplishes the deeds of the Buddha, he is also like a king who is completely seized by ministers. Although it is so, it is not like a king who is completely seized by ministers who protects the people only for his own benefit. Because he protects the people without regard to his own benefit, he is also like a great cloud. Although it is so, it is not like a great cloud that always rains for the ripening of crops. A Bodhisattva constantly generates dharmas that are in accordance with Bodhi, so he is also like the appearance of a Chakravartin. Although it is so, it is not like a Chakravartin who is unparalleled among great men. A Bodhisattva generates the common roots of virtue of liberation, so he is also like a wish-fulfilling jewel. Although it is so, it is not like a wish-fulfilling jewel that is extremely unequal to a Kārṣāpaṇa.

It is not like that. Bodhisattvas enter the realm of non-outflow, because their actions are equal and their enjoyment of bliss is equal, like entering a mixed garden. Although it is so, just as the gods who enter a mixed garden increase their afflictions and fall into future lives, it is not like that. Bodhisattvas have destroyed their afflictions, so they do not fall, like destroying the poison of afflictions. Although it is so, just as destroying the nine afflictions only stops at not harming, and does not transform into merit for anything, it is not like that. Bodhisattvas benefit all sentient beings with their own afflictions, like afflictions are the garbage of a great city. Thus, the qualities of a Bodhisattva, exemplified by things famous in the world, and the qualities that excel by their purity, possess unparalleled qualities. Thus, it should be known that Bodhisattvas possess unparalleled qualities. Furthermore, what is the discipline of a Bodhisattva who abides in true practice? Abiding in the Dharma of a Bodhisattva, the Sutra Pitaka possessing the Hearer Vehicle, explaining the nature of conventional truth, far exceeding what should not be shown as the guiding meaning, acting further upon them and having made roots of virtue, the Sutra Pitaka possessing the Great Vehicle, profound and possessing emptiness, explaining the nature of conventional and ultimate truth, diligently striving to show the definitive meaning, is called diligent effort in accordance with the Dharma. It is diligent effort in accordance with the Dharma and having entered the Middle Way, because this Dharma speaks of thirteen aspects of the Middle Way, namely, speaking of the emptiness of persons, and the selflessness of persons, the emptiness of phenomena, and the selflessness of phenomena, the extreme of superimposition, and the extreme of denigration, the direct realization of Dharma, and the dedication of that to great enlightenment, and the mind of the one who has now entered is not contaminated by afflictions and suffering, and the difference in faith in the two selflessnesses, and selflessness.
