Whatever are the obstructing dharmas, that is the characteristic of obstructing dharmas. Whatever are the dharmas that cherish them, that is the characteristic of dharmas that are in accordance with them. Whatever is the fault of obstructing dharmas, that is the characteristic of faults. Manjushri, whatever is the merit of dharmas that are in accordance, it should be known that is the characteristic of benefits. Then, Bodhisattva Manjushri again requested the Blessed One, saying: Blessed One, by what Dharani meaning will Bodhisattvas be able to follow the essential meaning of the profound dharmas spoken by the Tathagata? Please explain to the Bodhisattvas the meaning of Dharani, such as Sutras, Vinaya, etc., and the uncommon meaning with other later dharmas. Manjushri, therefore listen, in order for Bodhisattvas to enter my essential meaning, I will explain to you the main points of the meaning of Dharani. Manjushri, whatever are the completely defiled dharmas, and whatever are the completely purified dharmas, all of these are immovable and without self, therefore I have shown that all dharmas are without fabrication in every way. The completely defiled dharmas are not those that were previously completely defiled and then became purified; the completely purified dharmas are not those that became purified later and were not previously completely defiled. For this, ordinary people, due to clinging to the nature of dharma and self in the body of bad rebirth, relying on latent views, cling to self or what belongs to self, therefore they see, hear, smell, taste, touch, know, eat, act, become completely defiled, and become purified, thus generating inverted appearances. For whomsoever is able to truly understand this as it is, then he will completely abandon the body of bad rebirth and obtain a body that is not the basis of all afflictions, is extremely pure, without elaboration, unconditioned, and without manifest fabrication. Manjushri, that is the entire meaning of Dharani.

It should be known to be so. Then, the Bhagavan at that time spoke these verses: All defiled dharmas and purified dharmas, Are without a maker and without a person. Therefore, I say that they are without a maker. They are neither pure nor defiled, before or after. Lying dormant in the body of bad migrations, Relying on views, they grasp at self and what belongs to self, Therefore, there are statements such as seeing, eating, and doing, And the thought that defilements will become purified. Whoever thoroughly knows this truth as it is, That one will completely abandon the body of bad migrations, And attain a body that is not a place of defilements, utterly pure, Without elaboration and unconditioned. Bhagavan, how should one understand the nature of the arising of the Tathagata's mind? Manjushri, the minds of the Tathagatas, although not distinguished by mind, intellect, and consciousness, nevertheless, the mind of the Tathagata arises without effort, and should be known as like an illusion. Bhagavan, if the Dharmakaya of the Tathagatas is free from all intentional actions, then how can the mind arise without intentional action? Manjushri, it is because of the previous practice of skillful means and wisdom. Manjushri, for example, although a sleeping person without mind does not need to intentionally act to wake up, he wakes up because of the power of previous intentional action; and although one who has entered cessation does not need to intentionally act to arise from it, he arises only by the power of previous intentional action. Just as the minds of those who are asleep and those who have entered cessation arise, so too, the arising of the Tathagata's mind should be understood as arising from the previous intentional action of practicing skillful means and wisdom. Bhagavan, does the emanation of the Tathagata have a mind or not? Manjushri, it is neither with mind nor without mind, because the mind is without self-control and the mind is controlled by others. Bhagavan, what is the field of activity of the Tathagata, and what is the realm of the Tathagata?

What is the difference between these two? Manjushri, the realm of the Tathagata is common to all Tathagatas, it is the pure Buddha-field with inconceivable qualities and immeasurable adornments. The realm of the Tathagata is the five realms, namely the realm of sentient beings, the realm of the world, the realm of Dharma, the realm of taming, and all the realms of the means of taming. The difference between these two exists. World Honored One, what is the perfect complete enlightenment of the Tathagata, what is the turning of the wheel of Dharma, and what is the great Nirvana? How should the nature of these be understood? Manjushri, it is the nature of non-duality, it is neither perfect complete enlightenment, nor non-perfect complete enlightenment; it is neither the turning of the wheel of Dharma, nor the non-turning of the wheel of Dharma; it is neither the great Nirvana, nor the non-great Nirvana. Because the Dharmakaya is extremely pure, and the Nirmanakaya is constantly manifested. World Honored One, why should it be known that the merit accumulated by sentient beings by beholding, hearing, and attending to the Nirmanakaya arises from the Tathagata? Manjushri, because this is the act of particularly focusing on the Tathagata, and the Nirmanakaya is also the blessing of the Tathagata. World Honored One, it seems that there is no need for manifestation, why is it that only from the Dharmakaya of the Tathagata can sentient beings obtain such a great light of wisdom, and countless manifestations also appear, but not from the liberated bodies of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas? Manjushri, it is like this, for example, although it seems that there is no need for manifestation, but just like this, due to the blessing of the great power of sentient beings and the power of the karma of sentient beings, only from the discs of the moon and the sun, and from water crystals and fire crystals, can sentient beings obtain great light, and that
