Bodhisattvas in this life are mindful through the yoga of constantly practicing and revering the perfections. By the very nature of non-observation, they fully grasp the cause of mindfulness for them in the future. By the very nature of being without fault, they meditate on the perfections being utterly complete, utterly pure, and utterly refined. By the very nature of non-discrimination, the skillful in means quickly perfects the perfections. By the very nature of complete dedication, one obtains the inexhaustible perfections with the desired ripening fruit in all lifetimes until unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Blessed One, what is the vastness of those perfections? Avalokiteśvara, it is the very nature of non-attachment, the very nature of non-observation, and the very nature of complete dedication. What is the very nature of being without all defilements? It is the very nature of being without fault and the very nature of non-discrimination. What is the very nature of clarity? It is the very nature of individually discerning and acting. What is the very nature of immovability? It is the very nature of the completely unequal Dharma of those who have fallen to the ground. What is the very nature of being utterly pure? Avalokiteśvara, it is the very nature of belonging to the tenth ground and the very nature of belonging to the Buddha ground. Blessed One, why do Bodhisattvas always possess the ripening fruit of the perfections without deviating from desire, and without abandoning the ground of the perfections? Avalokiteśvara, it is because of meditating on accomplishing one by relying on the other. Blessed One, why do Bodhisattvas have faith in the perfections as they are, and abide in the desire for the ripening fruit of the perfections? Avalokiteśvara, it is for five reasons: the perfections are the cause of extreme happiness and mental happiness; they are the cause of benefiting oneself and others; they are the cause of desiring their ripening fruit in the future; they are the basis of being without all defilements; and they are the unchanging Dharma.

reason! World Honored One, what are the respective powers of those Pāramitās? The respective powers of those Avalokiteśvara lords are to be understood as fourfold. When practicing the Pāramitās, the unfavorable aspects of stinginess, immoral conduct, mental confusion, laziness, distraction, and the appearance of views are completely abandoned, and they transform into the accumulation of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. In this life, they benefit myself and all sentient beings, and in future lives, they will obtain the vast and inexhaustible desired fruits of maturation. World Honored One, from what cause do those Pāramitās arise, what fruits do they possess, and what meanings do they possess? The World Honored One said, "Avalokiteśvara lords, the Pāramitās, arise from the cause of compassion, possess the desired fruits of maturation, possess the fruits of benefiting sentient beings, and possess the great meaning of completely perfecting great enlightenment!" World Honored One, if Bodhisattvas possess dissatisfaction with enjoyment and have compassion, why are there poor people in the world? Avalokiteśvara lord, that is solely due to the faults of sentient beings' own actions! It is not so. If it were not due to the obstruction of the faults committed by sentient beings themselves, how could suffering appear in the world when they are constantly engaged in activity and possess inexhaustible enjoyment? Avalokiteśvara lord, for example, when hungry ghosts, tormented by thirst, see the water of the ocean dried up, that is not the fault of the ocean, but the fault of the results of the hungry ghosts' own actions! Similarly, whatever becomes fruitless is not the fault of the Bodhisattvas of generosity who have become like the ocean, but the fault of the actions of sentient beings themselves, like hungry ghosts! World Honored One, Bodhisattvas, the nature of dharmas does not exist, with what Pāramitā do they grasp?

Napa! Avalokiteśvara holds on to the Prajñāpāramitā. Blessed One, if the Prajñāpāramitā holds on to the very non-existence of inherent nature, then why does it not hold on to the very existence of inherent nature? Avalokiteśvara, although I do not say that it is by the very non-existence of inherent nature that inherent nature is held, nevertheless, without the indication of letters, the non-existence of inherent nature is without letters. Because the wisdom realized by each individual cannot be shown, therefore it is said that the very non-existence of inherent nature is held. Blessed One, it is also called pāramitā, it is also called near pāramitā, it is also called great pāramitā. Blessed One, what is pāramitā? What is near pāramitā? What is great pāramitā? Avalokiteśvara, here, a Bodhisattva from countless eons, also possesses the virtuous dharmas such as generosity that have been completely cultivated. However, afflictions also arise in him, and he is not able to subdue them, but is subdued by them. For example, on the ground of adhimukticaryābhūmi, entering into small and medium adhimukti, this is called pāramitā. Again, from countless eons, possessing those very virtuous dharmas that have been most completely cultivated, and afflictions also arise in him, he subdues afflictions and is not subdued by them. For example, from the first ground onwards, this is called near pāramitā. Again, from countless eons, possessing those very virtuous dharmas that have been extremely completely cultivated, and at all times, he becomes of the nature of dharmas in which afflictions do not arise. For example, from the eighth ground onwards, this is called great pāramitā. Blessed One, how many kinds of latent afflictions are there on those grounds? Avalokiteśvara, there are three kinds. Avalokiteśvara, the one who has destroyed the true friend is like this: for example, on those five grounds, the companion of co-emergent afflictions arises, non-co-emergent afflictions arise, and at that time there are no co-emergent afflictions, therefore he is a true friend.
