Bodhisattvas, having thus completely shattered the great net of universal ignorance and having completely passed beyond its dense evil destinies, attain the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. How great are the benefits and how great the fruits of the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment! It is truly marvelous! Blessed One, how many kinds of purity establish these grounds? Avalokiteśvara, by eight purities: purity of higher intention, purity of mind, purity of great compassion, purity of pāramitā, purity of seeing and serving the Buddhas, purity of maturing sentient beings, purity of birth, and purity of power. Avalokiteśvara, from the purity of higher intention in the first ground to the purity of power, and the higher grounds, up to the ground of the Buddhas, from the purity of higher intention to the purity of power, know that it is extremely pure and most extremely pure. Therein, the Buddha ground has not realized the purity of birth, and whatever qualities are in the first ground, those are equal to the qualities of the higher grounds, and also know that they excel by the qualities of their own ground. Know that all ten Bodhisattva grounds have supreme qualities, and the Buddha ground has unsurpassed qualities. Blessed One, why is the birth of a Bodhisattva said to be the most excellent among all births in existence? Avalokiteśvara, because of four reasons: because the roots of virtue are extremely pure and truly accomplished; because of individually examining and taking hold; because of having compassion for completely protecting all beings; because oneself is not afflicted and is able to dispel the afflictions of others. Blessed One, why do Bodhisattvas have great aspirations, abundant aspirations, and possess the power of aspiration?

For four reasons, Avalokiteśvara is the lord. Thus, bodhisattvas are skilled in abiding in the bliss of nirvana, and are able to quickly attain it, quickly attain it, and also abandon abiding in bliss. For the sake of sentient beings, without cause, without necessity, they wish in their minds for the long-term arising of many kinds of sufferings. Therefore, they are called those who go with great aspirations, and who possess excellent aspirations, and who possess the power of aspirations. World Honored One, how many trainings are there for bodhisattvas? Avalokiteśvara, the lord, has six: generosity, morality, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. World Honored One, among these six trainings, which is the higher training in morality? Which is the higher training in mind? Which is the higher training in wisdom? Avalokiteśvara, the lord, the first three should be known as the higher training in morality. Meditation is the higher training in mind. Wisdom is the higher training in wisdom. Diligence is all-pervasive, I say. World Honored One, among these six trainings, which is the accumulation of merit? Which is the accumulation of wisdom? Avalokiteśvara, the lord, whatever is the higher training in morality, that is the accumulation of merit. Whatever is the higher training in wisdom, that is the accumulation of wisdom. Diligence and meditation are all-pervasive, as previously stated. World Honored One, these six trainings, how should bodhisattvas train? Avalokiteśvara, the lord, has five aspects: first, having great faith in the teachings of the noble Dharma that possess the perfections, the bodhisattva's treasury; then, practicing the ten practices of Dharma, accomplishing them with the wisdom arising from hearing, thinking, and meditating; guarding the mind of enlightenment; relying on virtuous friends; and constantly and continuously engaging in virtuous practices. World Honored One, for what reason is this training

How should we understand the establishment of these as six in number? O Avalokiteshvara, it is for two reasons: to benefit sentient beings and to be the antidote to afflictions. Among these, three are to benefit sentient beings, and three are to be the antidote to afflictions; this should be understood. The bodhisattva benefits sentient beings by providing them with necessities through generosity. Through ethical discipline, they benefit by providing freedom from poverty, harm, and various transgressions. Through patience, they benefit by not dwelling on poverty, harm, and various transgressions. These three benefit sentient beings. Through diligence, they cause those afflictions that have not been subdued and those that have not been completely overcome to turn towards virtue. Therefore, they cannot be moved from turning towards virtue by afflictions. Through meditative concentration, they subdue afflictions. Through wisdom, they completely destroy latent tendencies. These three are the antidote to afflictions. O Bhagavan, how should we understand the establishment of other perfections as four in number? O Avalokiteshvara, it is because those six perfections themselves become the companions. Among these, after the bodhisattva has benefited sentient beings through the three perfections, they establish them in virtue through skillful means, which are included in the objects of gathering. Therefore, I have fully revealed that the perfection of skillful means is the companion of these three. O Avalokiteshvara, if a bodhisattva cannot constantly practice in this life due to many afflictions, and because their faculties and aspirations are weak, their superior intention is weak, and they cannot keep their mind within, and because they have not fully cultivated meditative concentration on the object of hearing the bodhisattva's treasury, they cannot manifest transcendent wisdom, then they should properly take and abide in a small accumulation of merit and wish in their mind that afflictions will be small in the future. That is their perfection of aspiration, and they, with afflictions,
