The second ground is called Immaculate because it is free from all defilements of subtle downfalls and immoral discipline. The third ground is called Illuminating because that samadhi and the dharani of hearing are the place of immeasurable appearances of knowledge. The fourth ground is called Radiating because, in order to burn the tree of afflictions, the Dharma that is in accordance with the path of enlightenment is meditated upon, and the light of the fire of wisdom shines forth. The fifth ground is called Very Difficult to Subdue because those very Dharmas that are in accordance with the path of enlightenment are meditated upon by means of skillful means, and it is difficult to subdue them. The sixth ground is called Manifest because the activity of actions is manifest, and because repeatedly attending to the signless is manifest. The seventh ground is called Gone Afar because attending to the signless is uninterrupted and continuous, following for a long time, and because it is connected with the pure ground. The eighth ground is called Immovable because the signless is spontaneously accomplished, and because it is not moved by the arising of the afflictions of signs. The ninth ground is called Good Intelligence because in all aspects, the unimpeded intelligence of teaching the Dharma is obtained without fault. The tenth ground is called Cloud of Dharma because the body of evil destinies is like the sky, and the Dharmakaya is like a great cloud that pervades and covers it. The eleventh ground is called the Ground of the Buddha because the extremely subtle obscurations of afflictions and knowledge have been abandoned, and without attachment or obstruction, all aspects of knowledge are manifestly and completely awakened. World Honored One, how many are the completely obscured of those grounds? How many are the unfavorable aspects of evil destinies? The World Honored One said: Avalokiteśvara, there are twenty-two completely obscured, and eleven unfavorable aspects of evil destinies. The first ground is completely obscured by manifest attachment to persons and phenomena, and completely obscured by the afflictions of evil destinies, and its unfavorable aspects of evil destinies. The second ground is for subtle downfalls
