Depending on what is taught, what exactly is Śamatha-Vipassanā? For example, completely giving, or completely renouncing, or those similar to these, or saying "all conditioned things are impermanent," or saying "it is suffering," or saying "all phenomena are without self," or saying "Nirvana is peace," that Śamatha-Vipassanā similar to this, one should know that it does not abide in the Dharma. Maitreya, therefore, relying on the Śamatha-Vipassanā that abides in the Dharma, I call the Bodhisattva who follows the Dharma a sharp faculty. Relying on not abiding in the Dharma, I call the one who follows faith a dull faculty. World-Honored One, Śamatha-Vipassanā is also called focusing on non-mixed Dharma, and also called focusing on mixed Dharma, what is the focus on non-mixed Dharma? What is the focus on mixed Dharma? Maitreya, if a Bodhisattva, how he holds and cultivates the Śamatha-Vipassanā that focuses on each Dharma such as the Sutra Pitaka among the Dharmas that are thought of, that is the Śamatha-Vipassanā that focuses on non-mixed Dharma. If those Dharmas such as the Sutra Pitaka are merged into one, gathered into one, tamed into one, made into one aggregate, and it is thought that all these Dharmas tend towards Suchness, flow into Suchness, return to Suchness, tend towards Bodhi, flow into Bodhi, return to Bodhi, tend towards Nirvana, flow into Nirvana, return to Nirvana, tend towards transformation, flow into transformation, return to transformation, all these Dharmas are expressed by words as immeasurable and countless virtuous Dharmas, such attention is the Śamatha-Vipassanā that focuses on mixed Dharma. World-Honored One, Śamatha-Vipassanā is also called focusing on a small mixture of Dharma, also called focusing on Dharma that becomes a large mixture, also called focusing on an immeasurable mixture of Dharma, what is focusing on a small mixture of Dharma? What is focusing on Dharma that becomes a large mixture?
