That is how it is. Among these, the complete conceptualization of the nature of meaning that relies on meaning is as follows: What is the complete conceptualization that, for objects of form other than name, distinguishes without taking name as an object, and what is the complete conceptualization that, for objects of feeling, perception, and formations other than name, and for objects of consciousness other than name, distinguishes without taking name as an object? Among these, the complete conceptualization of the nature of those two that relies on those two is as follows: What is the complete conceptualization that, for an object that is the nature of form, conceptualizes, "The name of this object is called form," and what is the complete conceptualization that, for objects that are the nature of feeling, perception, and formations, and consciousness, conceptualizes, "The name of this object is called consciousness"? In short, grasping onto the nature of the completely imputed can be understood as twofold: grasping through manifest engagement and grasping through nominal designation. Among these, grasping through manifest engagement can be understood as fivefold: manifest engagement of attachment, manifest engagement of anger, manifest engagement of encounter, manifest engagement of separation, and manifest engagement of equanimity. Among these, grasping through nominal designation can be understood as twofold: that which arises from non-letters and that which arises from letters. Among these, that which arises from non-letters is as follows: What is the grasping that is "What is this? What is this like?" Among these, that which arises from letters is as follows: What is the grasping that is "This is this and like this, called form, or up to consciousness, or conditioned, or unconditioned, or permanent, or impermanent, or virtuous, or non-virtuous, or unspecified," and so forth? It should be understood that these five are the subtle clinging to subtle manifestations: clinging to impermanence as permanence, clinging to suffering as happiness, clinging to impurity as purity, and clinging to selflessness as self.

They are manifestly attached to the nature of what is thoroughly imputed to signs. The thirty-fifth fascicle. In this regard, it should be understood that children are manifestly attached to the object to be spoken of, with five reasons, just as the name and just as the utterance, as the nature. Thus, if asked, "What is the nature of this object?", they answer, "The nature is form," but they do not answer, "The name is form." The nature is feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, they answer, "It is consciousness," but they do not answer, "The name is consciousness." Furthermore, having gone alone to a solitary place, when engaging in the thorough investigation of the own characteristics and the general characteristics of phenomena, they seek, saying, "The characteristic of this object is form, but the name is not form." The characteristic of this object is feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, but the name is not consciousness. Furthermore, when seeking that the characteristic of the object of form is form, they are unhappy when they do not find it; when seeking that the name is form, there is no unhappiness when they do not find it. When seeking that the characteristic of the object of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness is form, they are unhappy when they do not find it; when seeking that it is consciousness, there is no unhappiness when they do not find it. Furthermore, a word is a name, a name applies to a meaning, and a name applies to a meaning. Among these, the name that clarifies the meaning of its own characteristic does not clarify the meaning of a specific characteristic, nor does it clarify the meaning of a grasped characteristic, nor does it clarify the meaning of a grasping characteristic. The name that clarifies the meaning of the object of a grasping characteristic does not clarify the object of the meaning of its own characteristic. If it is the case that a name will apply to the meaning of its own characteristic, then it will also apply to the meaning of the object of a grasping characteristic, then therefore, the other names...
