It is based on the meaning of existence, not on the meaning of non-existence. When afflictions and suffering are merely close to being pacified, and it is called Nirvana, why is it not the meaning of non-existence? The answer is: For example, just as the nature of water, clarity appears only when turbidity is cleared, but the clarity itself does not disappear when turbidity is cleared; gold is good only when it is free from flaws, but the goodness itself does not disappear when it is free from flaws; the sky is pure only when it is free from clouds and fog, but the purity itself does not disappear when it is free from these. One should look at it in this way. What is the completely pure realm of Dharma? It is the suchness that is the elimination of all signs by relying on the cultivation of correct wisdom. For example, just as when a person falls asleep, he dreams that he is carried away by the water of a river, and in order to cross that river, he initiates great diligence, and the moment he initiates diligence, he wakes up, and after waking up, the water of that river disappears, the elimination of signs should also be viewed in the same way. When abandoning the habitual tendencies of terminology, at that very moment, are the signs completely destroyed? Or after abandoning them, are they completely destroyed at another time? The answer is: Abandoning it and completely destroying it are like the two ends of a balance, they are simultaneous. For example, just as when painting colors on the shape of a drawing, the shape also appears, and when eliminating blurred vision, blurred vision such as tangled hair is also eliminated, one should look at it in this way. How does a yogi overcome the object of focus? The answer is: When an image of the knowable arises when the mind is in a state of equanimity, because the ultimate truth has been well understood before, by remembering it, the very nature of having signs will completely transform and become without signs. The state of becoming without signs also has five situations: temporary, universal, wavering, associated with manifest actions, and

That is accomplishment. What is the nature of that accomplishment? Because it is not disturbed by all afflictions and all harms, it is permanently free from harm, therefore it is called abiding accomplishment. That is also the object of experience that is extremely pure in its very essence, as well as the object of experience that is all manifest, and the object of experience that has dominion over all. That accomplishment also serves to classify vehicles according to time. How long does it take to attain? It is said that because there are three faculties, they are classified by three vehicles. The two vehicles are also the root of the vehicle of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. The two attain an indefinite time, depending on the circumstances and how they fully ripen. The last is subject to the three bad migrations and will be attained in a time of three countless eons. What are the three bad migrations? Corresponding to the side that does not like bad migrations, like something on the skin, once abandoned, one will not go to bad migrations, and because one practices, one will not be mixed with dislike. Corresponding to the side of the obscuration of afflictions, like something subtle, once abandoned, in all ways, even very subtle afflictions will not arise, and the latent tendencies will not be completely destroyed. Corresponding to the side of the obscuration of knowledge, like something in the heart, once abandoned, the latent tendencies of ignorance will be completely destroyed, and unobstructed wisdom will enter into all knowable things. How are the Hearers established? It is said that by three causes: emanation, aspiration, and nature. Among these, emanation is when the Thus-Gone One, by the power of taming, emanates Hearer emanations in this and that place. Among these, aspiration is when a person makes aspirations for the Hearer vehicle, and is established as a Hearer. Among these, nature is when a person is naturally small in compassion and afraid of suffering, and because of these two reasons, they do not wish to benefit others, nor do they wish to wander in samsara for the sake of others, so by that nature they are designated as Hearers. That is complete.
