It is a regression from the state of peace. All of these are also regressions from the fear that arises from the truth of cessation and the truth of the path. Among all of these, those that are of their own nature are regressions from naturally practicing the path of meditation. In this regard, previously, in terms of taming, the uncommon aspects and antidotes of the afflictions that were shown were very coarse, like this: In order to generate understanding of the faults of various wrongdoings towards the afflictions for those to be tamed, the establishment of the wrongdoings of the afflictions is completely shown. Here, however, the establishment of the wrongdoings of the afflictions is completely shown by distinguishing the extremely subtle aspects as they are. Among those afflictions, which are with a basis and which are without a basis? It is said: Views and pride are without a basis, because they arise after completely distinguishing them on phenomena as without self. Desire and anger are with a basis. Ignorance and doubt should be known as both. Among those afflictions, which are associated with the sense of pleasure, and which are associated with the sense of equanimity, etc.? It is said: All those that are afflictions by their own nature are associated with all the senses, because they are aimed at and practiced on the three feelings, and therefore those that are associated with all aggregates of consciousness. Those that are not associated with all aggregates of consciousness are associated with all mind-born senses. The association of those that are by their own nature should be spoken of appropriately: Desire is sometimes associated with pleasure and joy, etc., sometimes with pain and displeasure, etc., and sometimes with equanimity. How is that? It is said: For example, here, some people are attached to encountering pleasant feelings, or attached to not being separated, manifest and abide, and in that way, he is happy.

Not associated with pleasant feeling and not yet associated, having separated and not yet possessed, and not associated with painful feeling, manifestly abiding in desiring separation from attachment, thus transformed, it is associated with painful feeling and not yet associated, not separated and separated, thus attachment sometimes accompanies suffering and displeasure. Conversely, it should be known that it accompanies happiness and pleasure. When attachment tastes in a state that is neither painful nor pleasant, it should be known that it accompanies equanimity. Anger sometimes accompanies suffering and displeasure, and sometimes it accompanies happiness and pleasure. How is that? Answer: For example, here some people, with a mind of hatred due to painful harm to their own body or harm to their mind, remember their own state of suffering; or with a mind of hatred towards unpleasant formations, unpleasant beings, or unpleasant dharmas, thus anger accompanies suffering and displeasure. For example, here some people, with a mind of hatred towards unpleasant beings who have become enemies, remember the suffering that will or has been suffered, and the lack of happiness and decline, thus anger accompanies happiness and pleasure. Among them, the view of the aggregates and the view of clinging to extremes, for the aggregates possessing happiness, from the perspective of considering them as self or mine, and as permanent and true, following and observing, then it is associated with pleasant feeling. For the aggregates possessing suffering, from the perspective of considering them as self or mine, and as permanent and true, following and observing, then it is associated with unpleasant feeling. For the aggregates possessing equanimity, from the perspective of considering them as self or mine, and as permanent and true, following and observing, then it is associated with equanimity.
