Regarding the dharma, discipline, and asceticism that are in accordance with this, and in conformity with it, holding them as supreme and precious, believing that through them one can be purified, liberated, and definitively escape, whoever cherishes discipline and asceticism, this is also entering wrongly into the truth of suffering. Regarding this, some other non-Buddhists neither fully approve of these forms of views, nor do they fully deny the assertion that these are the truth of suffering, but if someone is of two minds, thinking, "Is it suffering? Or is it not suffering?" then the doubt that arises from the ignorance associated with these afflictions is also entering wrongly into suffering. For these views themselves, having strong attachment, clinging, special attachment, and the desire for views, this is also entering wrongly into suffering. For other views that are not in accordance with this, having universal annoyance and anger, this is also entering wrongly into the truth of suffering. The pride that arises from these views themselves is also entering wrongly into the truth of suffering alone. For these views and afflictions such as desire, the ignorance associated with them, and the pure ignorance of the truth of suffering, this is also entering wrongly into the truth of suffering. Therefore, these ten afflictions are entering wrongly into the truth of suffering, and are to be abandoned by seeing suffering. How then are the eight latent tendencies entering wrongly into the truth of origination? For example, the wrong views of those ascetics and Brahmins who claim there is no cause, and the wrong views of those ascetics and Brahmins who claim a different cause, believing that Ishvara (自在天) and others are the givers, creators, and actors of things, and the wrong views that say, "There is no giving, no offering, no fire sacrifice, no good conduct, no bad conduct," these are part of the wrong views of those ascetics and Brahmins who deny causality.

Whatever it is, the wrong views of other non-Buddhists who slander the truth of the origin, and the wrong views of the Shramana Gautama who established the truth of the origin for the Shravakas, saying, "That does not exist," those are the inverted attachments to the truth of the origin. Whoever considers views to be superior, holds those views to be the most superior, and thinks that relying on those views can purify, liberate, and escape, that superior attachment to views is also an inverted attachment to the truth of the origin. Whoever is in accordance with those views, and the Dharma, discipline, and asceticism that correspond to those views, thinks that by upholding them in accordance with the Dharma, one can purify, liberate, and escape, that superior attachment to discipline and asceticism is also an inverted attachment to the truth of the origin. The rest, such as desire and so on, up to the limit of doubt, should be observed as before. Thus, these eight afflictions are inverted attachments to the truth of the origin, and are also what should be abandoned by seeing the origin. How are the eight latent tendencies inverted attachments to the truth of cessation? One of the views of the Shramanas and Brahmins who say there is an end and no end, and those who say there are gods and no gods, and the wrong views of the Shramanas and Brahmins who say they will enter Nirvana in this life, and broadly speaking, the wrong view that there are no Arhats in the world, thus the Arhats are also divided into those who are eliminated and those who are eliminated by wisdom. The wrong view of slandering the elimination, and the wrong views of other non-Buddhists who slander the truth of cessation, as mentioned before. And those views that distinguish the liberation of the wrong path, those wrong views are all inverted attachments to the truth of cessation. For those views, considering views to be superior, holding them as the most superior as before, that superior attachment to views is also an inverted attachment to the truth of cessation. In accordance with those views, and the Dharma that corresponds to those views

Holding pure discipline and asceticism as supreme, considering them excellent, and believing that they lead to purification, liberation, and definite emergence, whoever holds discipline and asceticism as supreme is also wrongly engaged in the truth of cessation. Except for anger, other desires and so on should be understood as before. Whoever is angry, possessing fear of cessation, a mind of pervasive torment, and a mind of anger, is also wrongly engaged in the truth of cessation; the rest is as before. Thus, these eight latent predispositions are wrongly engaged in the truth of cessation and are to be abandoned by seeing cessation. How then are the eight latent predispositions wrongly engaged in the truth of the path? "There are no Arhats in the world," and so on, extensively speaking, whatever wrong view denies the uncontaminated conditioned dharmas that are preceded by wisdom is wrongly engaged in the path. Whatever one aspect of the wrong view of those whom the gods and humans abandon is also wrongly engaged in the path. Other non-Buddhists' wrong view of denying the path, saying that the path of emergence taught by the ascetic Gautama to the hearers is not emergence, that it is not emergence for the sake of exhausting suffering, and also truly holding the discipline and asceticism of the view of no-self, and establishing dharmas that accord with this, is also a bad path, and the wrong view that says it is not a good path is also wrongly engaged in the path. They think thus: "Our path and practice are emergence for the sake of exhausting suffering"—such a wrong view is also wrongly engaged solely in the truth of the path. Whoever holds a view, considering the wrong view they hold as supreme, believing that it leads to purification, liberation, and definite emergence, whoever holds a view is also wrongly engaged in the path. Those who accord with it and the dharmas that correspond to it, discipline and asceticism,
