That is it. Among the four views, the view of the aggregates of existence, the view of extremes, the view of holding views as supreme, and the view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, all of these are called the false view of addition. What is the false view of denial? It is the view, attachment, and intention that slander causes, actions, or results, or destroy existing realities. This is called the false view of denial. For example, saying "There is no giving, no offering, no fire offering" is a slander of the cause. Saying "There is no good conduct, no bad conduct" is a slander of the action. Saying "The fruits of good and bad actions do not ripen" is a slander of the result. Saying "There is no father, no mother, no spontaneously born beings," and even "There are no Arhats in the world who have exhausted their defilements," it should be understood that this is the destruction of existing realities. This false view also exists among ascetics and Brahmins who speculate on the past, believing that there is no cause, or that there is a beginning and no beginning, or that gods should not be abandoned. There are also those who speculate on the future, believing that Nirvana can be attained in this life, who also hold this false view. Therefore, the sixty-two views that arise from the root of the view of the aggregates of existence can be encompassed by these three views: the view of extremes encompassed by the view of permanence, the view of extremes encompassed by the view of annihilation, and the false view itself. What is the view of holding views as supreme? It is to regard each of the sixty-two views as supreme, principal, particularly excellent, and sacred, and to insist that only this is true and all others are false, believing that through this view one can be purified, liberated, and attain definitive liberation, and to name it accordingly. This is called the view of holding views as supreme. What is the view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme? It is that which is consistent with the view of holding views as supreme, and with the view

The adherents of holding to asceticism and the Dharma corresponding to it, such as discipline and ascetic practices, having properly taken up discipline and ascetic practices, they diligently hold and manifestly cling to those very disciplines and ascetic practices that have been taken up as the most excellent and supreme, saying that this is true and the others are false. With this view, one becomes pure, one becomes liberated, one becomes definitely liberated. Thus, following their established terms, this is called holding to discipline and ascetic practices. What is desire? It is said to be the mind's attachment and the co-arisen clinging. It has four aspects: views, desires, forms, and formlessness. What is anger? It is said to be the mind's torment. It should also be viewed as having four aspects: those who view other sentient beings as different, those who harm, those who harm the beloved, and those who benefit the unlovable. What is pride? It is said to be the mind's arrogance. It should also be viewed as having four aspects: views, reliance on sentient beings, reliance on enjoying desires, and reliance on existence. In short, there is deluded pride and non-deluded pride. Pride based on sentient beings is the same as the previous three types of pride. Pride based on enjoying desires is like this: when one has great enjoyment, great wealth, and many attendants, the mind becomes arrogant based on that. Pride based on existence is like this: one will be born, one will not be born, and so on, extensively, neither with perception nor without perception, the mind becomes arrogant, being associated with the aspects of craving that are wavering, haughty, elaborating, and manifestly fabricated. Non-deluded pride is the arrogance of thinking, "I am superior to the inferior" or "I am equal to the equal." Deluded pride refers to the other five types of pride besides that. Furthermore, with bad enjoyments, one thinks, "I am happy."

And that pride is also a distorted pride. Having vast enjoyments, thinking "I am happy," this conceited thought should be regarded as a non-distorted pride. Because erroneous proof is also possible, therefore, whatever conceited thought there is, that is also a distorted pride. Because correct proof is also possible, therefore, the conceit that arises, should be regarded as a non-distorted pride. So, what is ignorance? That which obscures and obstructs the mind in relation to the object of knowledge that is to be realized, that is ignorance. In brief, it can be understood as four types: the universal ignorance of non-realization, the universal ignorance of negligence, the universal ignorance of affliction, and the universal ignorance of non-affliction. Not knowing the objects of knowledge, not seeing, not hearing, not distinguishing differences, and not truly understanding, is called the universal ignorance of non-realization. Not knowing due to distraction and forgetfulness regarding what is seen, heard, differences distinguished, and truly understood, is called the universal ignorance of negligence. Not knowing because the mind has become perverted is called the universal ignorance of affliction. Not knowing because the mind has not become perverted is called the universal ignorance of non-affliction. If all these ignorances are gathered together, briefly they become two types: associated with affliction and unmixed. For those who are not ignorant, no afflictions arise, therefore, those who have desire and other afflictions, and other afflictions, they also have ignorance, this is associated with affliction. For those who are dull-witted, and not afflicted by desire and other afflictions, for the truth of suffering and so on, improper attention, not truly appearing as it is, obscuring the mind, obstructing the mind, completely afflicting, and becoming darkness, this is called unmixed ignorance. So, what is doubt? The mind's two minds and the object of two minds.
