And by relying and abiding in that very one-pointedness, the power of noble wisdom will arise. By relying and abiding in the power of noble wisdom, perverted views will become empty. The exhaustion of defilements will be attained. Therefore, by correctly seeing these ten benefits, one should strive to be skilled in the detailed classification and thorough differentiation of the Dharma. The detailed determination is made by the two, earth and mind, which are endowed with the five aggregates of consciousness. The remaining text for the detailed determination of these two earths is not apparent. Regarding the detailed determination of the three earths, which include investigation and analysis, why is Yama called the King of Dharma? Is it because he brings harm to sentient beings, or because he brings benefit? If he brings harm, then he should not be called the King of Dharma. If he brings benefit, then it must be explained how he benefits sentient beings. Answer: He brings benefit, not harm. For example, he reminds those sentient beings who are close to him, with such bodies, that you will experience the fruits of your own actions, thus establishing mindfulness. Therefore, those sentient beings who fully understand that they themselves experience the fruits of their own actions, and the messengers of Yama, those non-sentient beings who are like emanations accomplished by the karma of sentient beings, will have no mind of torment, no mind of anger, and no thought of holding grudges. After that, they will no longer create evil deeds that cause sentient beings to be born in hell, and after their past karma is exhausted, they will be completely liberated from the hell realms. Therefore, Yama is called the King of Dharma because he brings benefit to the beings in hell. For those sentient beings who are born in the hells and immediately remember their previous lives upon being born, the King of Dharma, Yama, does not appear to them.

Yes. For those who do not remember their past lives, they will be made to remember. Those born there who do not remember their past lives can be summarized into three types: extremely ignorant, such as those born in remote areas who do not discriminate and do not discriminate at all, indulging in sin; extremely negligent, such as those who enjoy desires, who are particularly attached to strong desires, do not discriminate, and do not discriminate at all, indulging in sin; extremely heretical, such as those with heretical views who slander everything, do not discriminate, and do not discriminate at all, indulging in sin. These people cannot remember themselves, so they will be made to remember. The water in the great oceans is understood to have a salty taste for two reasons: one is the power of merit of the beings born in it, and the other is the power of non-merit of some of the beings living on land. For example, relying on the salty taste, those tiny creatures born in the ocean are not harmed by people because they are not within the scope of human activity. Moreover, the various kinds of precious treasures that exist in the great ocean also rely on the salty taste, so it is difficult for some beings living on land to obtain them. The classification of afflictions as pervasive afflictions can be established in five ways. What are the five? Nature, classification of nature, classification of pervasive afflictions, classification of abandonment, and classification of antidotes. What is nature? In short, there are two types of nature: afflictions are the nature of view and the nature of non-view. What is the classification of nature? In general, it should be regarded as ten types. There are five types of classification of afflictions of the nature of view, and five types of classification of the nature of non-view.

These, when summarized, become ten types of afflictions: the view of the aggregates, the view of extremes, wrong view, the view of holding views as supreme, the view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, desire, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt. Among these, what is the view of the aggregates? It is the view of considering the five aggregates of grasping as self or belonging to self, as well as attachment and mental engagement. This is called the view of the aggregates. It can be understood in two ways: innate and conceptually constructed. The innate one is present in all ordinary infants, and even in animals and birds. The conceptually constructed one should be regarded as belonging to other non-Buddhist schools. What is the view of extremes? It is the view of considering the self as permanent or the self as annihilated, influenced by the view of the aggregates regarding the five aggregates of grasping, as well as attachment and mental engagement. This is called the view of extremes. Among these, the view of extremes included in the view of permanence, in the sixty-two views, belongs to those who speculate on the past and assert permanence, some who assert permanence, and those who speculate on the future and assert having perception, those who assert not having perception, and those who assert neither having nor not having perception. The view of extremes included in the view of annihilation should be regarded as belonging to the ascetics and Brahmins who assert annihilation through seven things. These views of extremes are only conceptually constructed; there is no innate one, because they only arise in connection with other lifetimes. These views of extremes, etc., should be understood as shown in the 'Affairs,' with the distinction between conceptually constructed and non-conceptually constructed. So, what is wrong view? All inverted views, that is, engaging in inverted understanding of knowable objects, is called wrong view. In short, it can be viewed in two ways: exaggerating and denigrating.
