Striving diligently. Not despised by those skilled in practicing Brahmacharya. The meaning of those words that are said to be enjoying the merit and fruits of the land is fully explained. There are two kinds of giving: the giving of the receiver and the giving of the giver, and so on, the meaning of these words. The sutra says: If these sentient beings knew the result of giving and the ripening result of universal giving, then now, whichever is the former realm or the latter realm, they would not eat without giving or distributing. This shows that the results of giving and universal giving are different. Starting from the reason established by logic, in what way is it to be understood that the characteristic of future actions arises from only non-existence and non-non-existence? If the future dharma arises only from the existence of the characteristic of action, then will it transfer and arise? Will it transfer from the place of the future time and arise to the place of the present time? Or will it arise by death transference? Will it arise from the future time by death transference to the present time? Or will it arise dependently? In the future, it will remain unchanged in that way, and relying on it, will only another arise in the present time? Or will it arise with karma? In the future, it will not create karma, but in the present time, will a creator of karma arise? Or will it arise with complete characteristics? In the future, the characteristics will not be complete, but in the present time, will one with complete characteristics arise? Or will it arise with different characteristics? In the future, the characteristics of the future object and the fruit object will be different, but in the present time, will the characteristics of the present object and the fruit object arise with the same characteristics? The arising of what exists is not possible in all of those six ways. Why is that? Because for those who do not abide in a place and do not abide in a direction, there is no transferring from one place to another, and for the unborn and the unarisen, there is no death.

And because there is no change, and if arising depends on it, then it is merely that something else has arisen, and it is not the future. And the future is also because it has not arisen. Since all dharmas are truly immutable, no action other than characteristic is perceived. It is only an imputation on the characteristic itself. Even if it is other, the future and the present arising are similar in existence because their characteristics are the same. Thus, the agent of action, which is solely with action, is not perceived, and action also arises from what has not arisen. As the Blessed One has well said, "All conditioned things are impermanent and unstable." To that which is well spoken and well said, the action of conditioned things is indeed impermanent, and conditioned things are indeed permanent in meaning. By fully demonstrating this, great harm will be done. From the similarity of having the same characteristic, if the characteristic has different parts, why does the characteristic become different parts? If the different parts of the characteristic arise from what has not arisen, then why would the basis of the different parts not arise from what has not arisen? Future objects are also not perceived apart from the characteristic of conditioned things such as form, and the future and non-existent fruit is because the fruit is now arising. Therefore, starting from the reasoning that is established by reason, who can understand that the future dharma, the characteristic of conditioned things, is non-existent and non-existent, and arises from what has not arisen? This is the explanation of this reason. Just as with the future, so too with the past, this reasoning should be understood accordingly. What then are the past conditioned things? They are the characteristics that have decayed and completely deteriorated from objects by their own nature. What are the presently arising conditioned things? They are the characteristics that do not decay or deteriorate from objects by their own nature, but remain only at the moment of arising. What are the future conditioned things? They are those in which the cause exists and is not non-existent, but their own characteristic has not arisen and they have not obtained their own nature. If the future
