It also brings joy and closely demonstrates its benefits. Having entered in this way and abiding in it for a long time, for him, his mind previously rejoiced in all afflictions, that which is completely condemned, without needing to separately examine, for the constant practice of virtuous dharmas, there is also a time when he himself becomes manifestly joyful, that time will also come. Because a monk enters the practice of purifying the mind, in this way relying on his own rejoicing in all afflictions, becoming unparalleled, truly and completely understanding as it is, in this way from the faults, he also becomes skilled in the mind of all afflictions, in this way he also becomes skilled in the complete transformation of the mind of all afflictions. In this way, the monk entering the practice of purifying the mind is like this: through the cessation of defilements, he quickly attains the unsurpassed pure mind. There are also other types of skill in the mind and types of skill in the complete transformation of the mind, the types of skill in the mind are to be understood starting from the nature of the completely imputed. The types of skill in the complete transformation of the mind are to be understood starting from the nature of the other-powered. Second Chapter. The benefits of completely subduing the mind with virtue are two: touching happiness at the time of the result, and obtaining freedom at the time of the cause. The faults of making the mind impure are three: the fault of improper attention, the fault of latent tendencies, and the fault of pervasive entanglement. What is the intention of what the Blessed One said, "One should thoroughly and properly examine the mind alone," and what is said in the four mindfulnesses, "Abiding observing the body in the body" and so on, up to "Abiding observing the dharmas in the dharmas"? He said: There, the complete examination of the mind alone is completely shown by the four mindfulnesses, that is, the complete examination of the mind's reception, the complete examination of the mind's feeling, the complete examination of the mind's discrimination, and the complete examination of the mind's

To fully examine afflictions and purification, in this way, through acceptance and feeling, as well as the distinct recognition of objects, and complete afflictions, and purification, these four allow for a comprehensive examination of the mind alone. The benefits of completely subduing the mind with virtue are twofold, which refers to the meaning of what is said in the sutra, "I think like this, if the mind is not subdued, it becomes neither gentle nor usable, and if it is subdued, it becomes gentle and usable, such a dharma, I have not even truly seen one." The faults of the mind becoming turbid are three, etc., which should be combined appropriately with the examples of the bowl, mirror, and pool of water mentioned in the sutra. The three abodes of a monk: abiding in liberation, abiding in the gate of liberation, and abiding in the dharma that leads to the gate of liberation, this is acting like the teachings shown by the six practices, namely, practicing without interruption, practicing by well holding and thinking, practicing by generating roots of virtue arising from practice, practicing by not tasting its flavor but distinguishing the truth, practicing without arrogance towards it, and practicing by well enjoying the offerings given with faith. Giving is of two kinds: the giving of the receiver and the giving of the giver. The fruits of giving are two: great enjoyment and the aspiration for enjoyment that is the same as its cause. Called a monk abiding in three places, here, what is said to be abiding in liberation refers to what is said in the sutra, "Practicing the realm of immortality and abiding." Called abiding in the gate of liberation, refers to what is said in the sutra, "The realm of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness." Called abiding in the dharma that leads to the gate of liberation, refers to what is said in the sutra, "Meditating on the mind with disgust." Called practicing without interruption, etc., the six practices refer to the sutra's description of the meditator who does not abandon, the one who possesses superior insight, the one who makes the home empty, the yogi for one's own benefit.
