Among them, the ten are in order: namely, desire for things, desire for views, desire for attachment, desire for miserliness, desire for obscuration, desire for misconduct, desire for offspring, desire for factions and retinues, desire for possessions, and desire for arising and destruction. The basis of anger is also ten: oneself and beloved beings, unlovable beings, harm and benefit done in the past, harm and benefit to be done in the future, harm and benefit done in the present, unpleasant places, jealousy, previous habits, and looking at others. It should be observed that from these, anger arises in ten ways in order. Among them, from the six bases, it should be known that the nine objects of pervasive torment are separately established, all of which are anger towards sentient beings. From others besides them, it is anger towards objects. Impatience preceding is anger towards sentient beings, habit preceding, and similarly anger arising from observation, these can be summarized into three types of anger: anger towards sentient beings, anger towards objects, and anger towards views. The basis for the arising of ignorance is seven: namely, the basis of time, the basis of the world's dwelling, the basis of transformation, the basis of the ultimate, the basis of only this, the basis of pervasive affliction and the basis of purification, and the basis of manifest pride. It should be observed that from these bases, ignorance arises in seven ways, or nineteen ways. Among them, the first is because doubt arises from the three doors. The second is because the six internal sense bases, and external objects, and the view of self, mine, and factions such as friends arise towards both. The third is because the view of karma and its ripening, and the view of an agent, a feeler, causelessness, and incompatibility as causes arises towards both. The fourth is because of slandering the Three Jewels. The fifth is because of slandering the truth. The sixth is because of wrong

It is for the sake of. The seventh is for generating manifest pride in not having attained the meaning of self. There are six bases for the arising of pride: inferior sentient beings, sentient beings equal to oneself, particularly superior sentient beings, the individually internal aggregates of clinging, being mistaken about what should be attained but is not, and being mistaken about qualities. From these prides, seven types of pride arise, including pride itself and so on. Among these, two types of pride arise from the base of particularly superior sentient beings. From the remaining bases, one pride arises from each. There are two bases for the arising of views: the base of superimposition and the base of denigration. Among these, there are four types of superimposition: superimposing a self, superimposing permanence, superimposing impermanence, superimposing as a means of manifest superiority, and superimposing as a means of liberation. There are also four types of denigration: denigrating the cause, denigrating the result, denigrating the agent, and denigrating existing things. Among these, from "there is no giving" to "there is no good conduct and misconduct" is denigrating the cause. "The ripening of the fruits of actions of good conduct and misconduct does not exist" is denigrating the result. From "there is no this world" to "there are no spontaneously born sentient beings," it should be regarded as denigrating the agent. Here, the term "agent" refers to the agent of a person in this context of meaning, and there are four types: coming, going, sowing seeds, entering the womb, and the actions of rebirth are the agent of a person. Denigrating that "there are no Arhats in the world" and so on is called denigrating existing things. From these eight or two bases, five views will arise, namely, the view of the aggregates, the view of holding to extremes, the view of holding to views as supreme, the view of holding to ethics and vows as supreme, and wrong view.

The basis for the arising of views of clinging and wrong views is the speculation about the past and the speculation about the future, the root of which is sixty-two. These should be understood as they appear in the sutras. The distinctions of these roots themselves become sixty-two views. The basis for the arising of doubt is six, namely: listening to non-holy teachings, seeing teachers expounding wrongly, slanderers, believers seeing different systems, being naturally inferior and dull, the nature of profound teachings, and the extensive exposition of vast teachings. What is the detailed classification of the afflictions? The detailed classification of all of these is fifteenfold, namely: afflictions looking inward, looking outward, to be abandoned by seeing, to be abandoned by meditation, having clinging with desire and acceptance, having clinging without desire and acceptance, having latent tendencies, small, medium, large, the state of distraction, the state of causing others, the state of teasing, the state of suppressing, and the state of liberation. There is no benefit to the afflictions. What are the many faults? For example, on the basis of the ground of thought and examination, for example, it is extensively explained that "for clinging, the mindstream is completely defiled by afflictions," and so on. It should be understood that afflictions are not the antidote to anything. So, how is it that one relies on craving to abandon craving, and relies on pride to abandon pride? That is not an affliction, but the manifestation of mind is virtuous. Because it is in accordance with the form of desire and conceit, it is merely called craving and pride. It should be observed that the opposing side of the fifteen antidotes to the mind being completely defiled by afflictions, as previously stated, are those fifteen afflictions. What is the place of the near afflictions? That is ninefold.
