Merely focusing, and not focusing on meanings other than characteristics, if mutually dependent, self-nature will be mixed, therefore, using wisdom to distinguish, just like a chariot and so on. Therefore, for form belonging to the dharma-sphere (chos kyi skye mched), it should be known that there is only the color of the samadhi's fruit. Why is that? Because there is no cause for the arising of other things such as smells, and there is no need. Similarly, the wind moving in the sky does not have smells and so on arising together, but arises from mixing. In the phenomena arising from outside the mandala, other elements and smells arising from that are also not seen. The fruit of the samadhi of form belonging to the dharma-sphere should also be known to depend only on the samadhi. It does not depend on the great elements ('byung ba chen po), because it arises from the samadhi that focuses on the image of the same kind as it, so it does not arise relying on that which is called having the great elements as the cause. If asked, how many in the form aggregate are visible and obstructive, how many are invisible but obstructive, and how many are neither visible nor obstructive? The answer is: the object of the eye, one is in both situations. The rest are invisible but obstructive. Excluding the form belonging to the dharma-sphere, because it should be observed that it is neither visible nor obstructive, like that, similar to that is the shape thought of the form aggregate. So, what exists in the continuum of the form aggregate that allows the form aggregate to enter? The answer is that there are three: arising from a similar cause, arising from maturation, and arising from growth. Among them, there are four types of arising from a similar cause: arising from the similar cause of maturation, arising from the similar cause of growth, arising from the similar cause of change, and arising from the similar cause of self-nature. Among them, the cause of maturation is the first.

It arises from growth. For example, the Vipāka born from karma, and the Vipāka born from Vipāka, which is produced at a time other than its Vipāka, solely through the attraction of karma. Among these, there are two types of arising from growth: one is arising from growth that pervades the place, and the other is arising from growth that causes the nature to increase. Among these, the first arising from growth should be regarded as growth caused by material food, sleep, Brahmacarya, and Samāpatti. The other should be understood from food, its place, the cultivation of the difference in attention, and the maturation of time. Among these, material Dharmas grow through two types of growth. Non-material Dharmas grow only through growth that causes the nature to increase. The form that operates in the desire realm grows through the four types of food and all other causes of growth. The form that operates in the form realm is neither by coarse food, nor by sleep, nor by Brahmacarya. The continuum of material sense faculties should be understood as proceeding by two, namely, the continuum born from Vipāka and the continuum arising from growth, because there is no continuum of similar cause other than these. When the continuum of Vipāka also appears to increase, widen, expand, and become vast, why would that which is included in Vipāka not become arising from growth? Answer: Because the continuum of dissimilar growth benefits it, it is shown that the continuum born from the similar cause of Vipāka itself increases. For form not included by the senses, it should be known that none of the three exist. Mind and mental factors arise from similar causes, are born from Vipāka, and arise from growth by the two types of growth. For form belonging to the Dharmadhātu, there is no birth from Vipāka, and the rest should be understood as the same as mind and mental factors. In the desire realm, all internal and external forms will become Vipāka. In the form realm, smell

And there is no taste. In the desire realm, even if sentient beings' senses are not complete, they will mature. In the form realm, the senses are complete. The sound realm is mature, but the sound is not. Therefore, it should be understood that what is similar to this is the continuum of the form aggregate. How many functions does the earth element, which is included in the form aggregate, have? Until the wind element, how many functions does it also have? Answer: It should be observed that everything has five functions. Among them, the earth element has the function of obvious harm, causing it to completely change; it has the function of being a foundation; it has the function of maintaining position; it has the function of disturbing; and it has the function of helping. The water element has the functions of flowing, gathering, moistening, disturbing, and helping. The fire element has the functions of illuminating, ripening, burning, disturbing, and helping. The wind element has the functions of moving, following karma, drying, disturbing, and helping. Furthermore, it should be observed that the form produced by the great elements has five functions, namely, the functions of producing, depending, maintaining, relying, and increasing. Among them, producing refers to those that appear before the arising of change. Depending refers to the place where change arises, not different from those that serve as dependence. Maintaining refers to those that are accomplished by helping and harming, and that become the place of the same happiness. Relying refers to those that do not diminish from that point and are completely held, thus becoming reliance. Increasing refers to those that grow and expand, thus becoming increasing. Why are the objects perceived by the eyes and ears, whether good or bad, good or bad themselves, and not others? Answer: In short, the mind can be divided into three types of differences: small, medium, and large, namely, for the physical and verbal expressions, in order to establish them as good and bad, the mind that clearly fabricates, the determined mind, and the mind that completely arises.
