as well as decay, and truly observe arising. What is meant by "when the body exists, its mindfulness is kept very close" refers to the supramundane mindfulness of the body as it is. What is meant by "merely knowing" refers to the path of inner tranquility of each individual. What is meant by "merely seeing" refers to the path of insight. Furthermore, what is meant by "merely remembering" refers to the mundane and supramundane paths obtained after that. How does one abide without relying on the body? Relying on what samadhi, those who cultivate mindfulness abide closely, without savoring the taste of that samadhi, up to the point of excessive attachment and non-abiding. How does one not grasp anything in the world? It is abandoning the four inversions, because having abandoned them, one does not grasp the body and so forth as pure, happy, self, or permanent. It should be understood that from the supreme designation onwards, five types of individuals are established. What are the five types of individuals? Ordinary beings delighting in joy and happiness, those who have entered the path of seeing delighting in abandoning obscurations, those who have entered the aspect of the path of seeing delighting in liberation, those who have entered the aspect of the path of seeing becoming ultimate, and those who have entered the path of seeing becoming ultimate. Among them, what is an ordinary being delighting in joy and happiness? It should be observed as three types: delighting in the joy and happiness arising from sensual pleasures, delighting in the joy and happiness arising from samadhi with investigation and analysis, and delighting in the joy and happiness arising from samadhi without investigation and analysis. What is it to enter the path of seeing and delight in abandoning obscurations? It should be observed as two types: delighting in abandoning the obscuration of afflictions, and delighting in abandoning the obscuration of samadhi. Among them, the individual who delights in abandoning the obscuration of afflictions refers to those who have not obtained and have obtained dwelling in happiness in this life, and have not obtained and have obtained all kinds of perception samadhi, that is, starting from abiding, and completely examining what is to be known.

Beginning from the ground. Among these, what is it to be delighted in overcoming the obscurations that lead to equanimity? It is having and not having all the spheres of overcoming, and not having and having all the spheres of cessation. Among these, what is it to enter into the aspect of observing a person and to be delighted in liberation? It is thinking that external heretics have no self, there is no mine, I will not arise, mine will not arise. This is also not attained and attained. Among these, what is it that, having entered into the aspect of observing a person, will ultimately become? It is not having and having the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Among these, what is it that, having entered into the basis of seeing a person, has ultimately become? It is whatever experiences the complete abandonment of the six sources of contact. Starting from the supreme designation, these five types of individuals are established. The qualities of a layperson are three: purity, action, and accomplishment. Among these, purity is purity of intention, purity of conduct, and purity of realization. Among these, purity of intention is having no doubt about the Buddha and so forth, and possessing wonder and auspiciousness. Among these, purity of conduct is completely perfecting the training. Among these, purity of realization is for the sake of realizing the purity of the mundane and the supramundane. Among these, action is for the sake of performing the activities of the Three Jewels. Among these, accomplishment is for the sake of easily establishing knowledge for those who are in accordance with the Dharma and those who are not in accordance with the Dharma. Among these, Dharma is of three types: the Dharma of listening, the Dharma of practice, and the ultimate Dharma. The teachings of the outsiders are inverted, because they desire to abide in pure conduct. It is not seeing morality correctly, accompanied by the sickness of absorption, because it is not a definitive departure, therefore it is not a permanent intimacy, and it is common to other heretics and ordinary individuals. This well-spoken Dharma is the opposite of that, from seeing correctly onwards, up to the point where the wise individually realize it for themselves. Desires
